[So Ruka's up in the stands and feeling pretty grateful that she got knocked out early as she did, since facing Aki in the semi-finals would have been difficult enough, but Rua in the finals would have been exceedingly awkward.]

[As it is, she's free to encourage him as well as she can.]

[Ruka turns at the sound of her name, and she greets her friend with a bright smile and a wave (and is she laughing?)]

You made it!

[With a bit of finagling, Ruka manages to trade seats and works her way into the seat next to Metabee, all smiles and bright cheer.]

Rua's gotten really strong. With the way the brackets were set up, I didn't think he'd get past the first round, against Yuugi. [She looks a little embarrassed at this.] He's been facing the toughest duelists the whole tournament, you know?

I guess so, huh?

Mmm, it'll be something, if Yuusei and the others ever come here.

Really? [She looks a little surprised, but shakes her head a moment later.] No, I guess I haven't, have I?

Yuusei, we... we met him only a little while before I arrived here. He was the first new friend we made in a long time. There- [She points at Rua for a moment, and the blue contraption on his arm] -our duel disks were way too big for us, and really heavy, but Yuusei customized them for us the day we met, so they'd fit us better. He's smart, and kind, and a strong duelist, and... a really good friend.

Yeah... just like we don't talk much, about the people who've left, do we?

[She shakes her head] He was here for a little while, last year. I didn't see him very much, though.

Yeah, me too.

... Do you think we'll still be here, next year?

[Crow is standing somewhere in the stands too, there's no way he'd miss the finals after all. Seeing Rua there was certainly a surprise (and perhaps a little blow at his ego) but at least that meant he had someone to cheer for. When he spots Ruka's pigtails in the crowd he decides to fight his way over.]
