Amara liked to think that she had good judgment usually. She had done a lot of stupid things in her youth but experience had made her wiser and she was usually very careful about everything she did, especially when it came to relationships. She should have followed her instincts that getting involved with her teammate was a bad idea, especially when she still had a strange lingering attachment to someone else. "Hi," he grinned when he heard her, and stopped fussing with his hair to turn and greet her. Many times after romantic conquests, Roberto didn't find his partners all that attractive anymore and left them in the wind. There had been a few minor exceptions to that of course. Juliana, Gosamyr, Tabitha. Now Amara. She looked even more sexy today somehow, and the stupid, appreciative look on his face right then would have been a tip off.

She felt horribly guilty and her stomach turned unpleasantly. There Roberto was, grinning like an idiot, probably thinking how awesome he was, totally unaware of what was about to happen. Amara felt a little sorry for him, actually. It wasn't like she wanted to go out of her way to hurt him. How was she supposed to say something like this?

"Oh. Fine. How are you?"

Stalling for time until she gathered her thoughts could work, right? Also pretending that last night didn't happen was also a good idea, right? Right.
