Well. Mar'i was not expecting this when she came back to their meeting location. She shares at Dani - was it Dani? - hoping this wasn't what she thought it was, but on the other hand...

It didn't look good.

"What..."

Dani quickly turned, palming the handle of a blade. She was sure that she couldn't lie about everything just yet but maybe...

"Are you...are you a friend?" Dani asked, injecting as much hesitation as she could muster.

It's enough hesitation to make Nightstar answer. Dani doesn't seem to be a threat.

"Well, in a sense. We've been working on a case together."

"Really? What was the case like?" Dani asked.

Not that she really cared. It didn't seem like they were there to help mutants. Which left humans. And whatever else was out there in this City. Dani tried to keep her arm down, not wanting to risk a slash at Nightstar while she was still across the room. Nightstar didn't seem particularly bright but maybe Dani could get more information about the mutants currently active.

She's ok with Dani...for now. Just keep that knife down...

"Kidnapping case." She looks at Dani. "You sure you're ok?"

Kidnapping? What use was some human? Dani thought. "I'm...a bit tired," she replied.

It looked like she wasn't going to get anything useful out of this one. She walked forward, "I didn't...it's so.." And as she raised a hand to her head as if with a headache, a glint appeared in her eye and a sudden blot of psionic energy rushed toward Nightstar, looking to cut across the base of her brain and kill her.

...Crap. Of course Dani turned into a psycho. Who, out of the people she knew that were affected, didn't turn into a psycho?

She manages to dodge out of the way, looking just a tad annoyed as her hands start glowing with starbolt energy.

"You don't want to do this!"

Dani's eyes narrowed, perturbed that this one seems fast enough to duck her psionic blade. She grit her teeth and silently and begrudingly thanked her other incarnation for keeping so many knives around. She brought up her blade and took a stance, aware of her opponent's glowing hands.

"You don't give me orders. I can't believe you actually wanted to help these powerless people. At least tell me we were paid handsomely."

She took stock of what was behind Nightstar, trying to see if she could use something, she took a quick run forward before jumping and throwing a knife at Nightstar.

Her hand shoots out a starbolt in response.

"The alternative is something I've lived." The knife melts into slop on the ground before it reaches her. "And it didn't end well for anyone!"

Avoiding the rebound from the starbolt, Moonstar decides to find other things for that starbolt to hit. She starts pulling pieces of furniture to throw at Nightstar, trying to create some sort of opening so that she can get away.

"Only because you let humans control your power. They do not have dominion."

The furniture thrown at her is instantly hit by starbolts. One piece smacks Mar'i pretty hard in the face, but she does her best to shake it off.

"The world was destroyed when we held dominion! If humans aren't given any control of their destiny, there's no balance!"

Her opponent was clearly corrupted by what she believed to be the right order of the world.

"Humans don't deserve such control especially in the face of a greater species."

Dani gets hit in the shoulder by a starbolt. She hisses her pain and throws a knife and psionic beam toward Nightstar in anger.
