WHO: lady_fister and greengosborn WHERE: Avengers Tower WHEN: Say yesterday afternoonish. WARNINGS: None! SUMMARY: Norman invited Wu over to chat and consider joining the Avengers. Hint: she does. FORMAT: Quicklog
[ Norman exited the Tower right at the appointed time, dressed in his armored suit, helmet held under his arm. He greets her with a polite smile. Was he supposed to bow? He offers her a modest one, before extending a hand. ]
[ He's a little ruffled by the gesture, but continues into the building, leading her towards an elevator. ]
Though the Tower is obviously rather tall, the living and recreational areas for you Avengers are near the top. The lower floors are for offices, meeting rooms, laboratories, what have you. [ A pause. ] As far as what you have available to you, there's a full kitchen, living area -- television, library -- as well as exercise facilities such as a pool and a gym.
[ Well he didn't expect her to lead the way now, did he? ]
That sounds good. How many other Avengers are here?
[ She's not very talkative, preferring just to follow Norman and take it all in. She'll have time for all her questions later. For now, better to observe. ]
At the moment -- [ He pauses, using the armor to access his database files on the Avengers. ] besides you and I, there are four other members. The ranks are a bit thin currently, unfortunately; it happens when people are pulled in and out of the city so quickly.
[ He shakes his head. ]
But with any luck, they won't remain thin for long.
[ When they step out, Wu looks around again, wondering how long she wants to play out this game before she gives him the answer they both know she's going to give. Perhaps she'll wait until she determines the quality of the weapons. Yes, that seems like a reasonable idea. ]
You mentioned bows earlier? Would you have me use one?
Of course. If you'd be comfortable with that, that is.
[ He turns from her for a moment, heading into another room where the remnants of Hawkeye's old supplies are. He plucks up the bow and brings it out to her. ]
[ Wu takes the offered bow with care, running her fingers over it to check for weaknesses. After a moment, she looks up at Norman with a glint in her eyes. ]
[ He goes to pick up the rest of Hawkeye's supplies and then leads her down a floor, to where there's a training room, with targets. He hands her the paraphernalia in his hand, strings, arrows, a quiver. ]
You can utilize this room as often as you need. I can have a key made for you.
[ The moment she bends the bow to string it, Wu starts grinning despite herself. This is a heavy pull, probably meant for a man's use. She can definitely do some damage with this. ]
I think that a key might be a good idea. Do the targets move?
[ As she asks, she slings the quiver over her shoulder and saunters over to face the targets, frowning a little as she nocks an arrow. It really has been a while since she used a bow and her muscles recognize that, much to her dismay. ]
That would be good. Most targets in battle are not still.
[ As he watches, she shoots once, twice, thrice. The arrows land in a closely packed cluster in the center of her target. She considers the target for a moment, then turns to Norman. The edges of her mouth are tipped upward. ]
Hm. Well, if you will have me, Iron Patriot, you have a new member for your team.
[ She says his name with a little upturn of inflection at the end, questioning whether or not that is, in fact, the right name to use in a situation such as this. She had used that hour before coming here to do a little research and figures that defaulting to his title might be the best route... but this time period is so strange sometimes that she can never be sure of herself. ]
[ He grins, and reaches to shake her hand. The formality is not lost on him, and it does reflect well to him -- respect is something of a rarity around here, it seems. ]
Just 'Osborn' is fine. [ Pause, still smiling. ] That's wonderful news. We'll get a costume made for you, it shouldn't take more than a couple of days.
[ Wu takes his hand and nods, happy to know that she didn't commit any glaring faux-pas. ]
Osborn... then you should call me Wu.
[ She's surprised when he mentions a costume, and looks up at him with confusion... although now that she thinks about it, a new identity might be a good idea. Her family was loving, but a tad overprotective at times. ]

Good afternoon. Your building seems impressive.
[ She takes care to tamp down on her accent as much as possible, but it still colours her speech, marking her as a foreigner in this land. ]

[ He shakes, a mild smile at the corner of his lips. ]
Would you be interested in a tour?
Reply
[ Wu retrieves her hand and gestures for him to walk in front of her. ]
Please, do lead the way.

Six is not such a bad number.

Is there anywhere I could string and shoot this?

Unfortunately not; but I can have some equipped. Best to practice outside the field rather than in the midst of a fight.

A costume? Why would I need one?
