WHEN: BACKDATED to like 2 days ago, sob.
WARNINGS: Noneeee
SUMMARY: Osborn gave Axel a job, a job that is better suited to a few little globs of darkness...
FORMAT: Paragraph
It was a simple enough request. Osborn had given him three comm registration numbers and said "keep an eye" on them. Spy. Gather information. Simple.
Or so it seemed. It didn't take him long to find out who the three were; a former Avenger-turned-betrayer named Selina, a private investigator named Eddie and a relatively new (and unstable) ImPort named Jonathan Crane. Their names were easy. Finding the people themselves? Infinitely more difficult, even for a seasoned "investigator" like himself. Even after several weeks of searching, he hadn't managed to get a good lead on Selina or Edward, and Crane seemed to be forever trailed by birds. Troublesome.
So the Nobody had decided to take matters out of his hands and into someone (or rather, something) else's. As he sat crosslegged on the floor of his room, staring into a black swirling void in front of him, he was well aware that what he was about to do could bring about the end of this world.
That's what Heartless did, after all. Invaded worlds, destroyed their inhabitants, then consumed the Heart, the very essence of the world. This world, without any keybearers, would be a veritable sitting duck, even with the myriad "superheroes".
But in all honesty? Axel could not bring himself to care. It was hard to give anything even remotely resembling a damn when you didn't have a heart, no real friends to care about and no connection to the world. Still, with his inability to leave the world, it would be most inconvenient if he allowed the Shadows to consume the City. He'd just have to be very careful to bolt and lock the door behind him and destroy the Shadows after they had finished their job.
Axel reached out to the darkness in front of him and allowed it to consume him. The red-haired Nobody disappeared from his room in the tower and the next thing he knew, he was in the all too familiar Corridor of Darkness. The Corridors were a strange phenomenon, spaces and roads of calm amid the violent, swirling tempest that was the Darkness linking all Worlds; eyes in the storm. Stray too far, and even a Nobody would be ripped apart.
Axel closed his eyes and again reached out to the Darkness, placing his hands on the "floor" below him. There was nothing but tempestuous energy. Usually, when he did this, there were too many points of exit to count. It just drove it home that he really was trapped here. It took him at least an hour of real world time to find what he was looking for. He searched through the violence to find the darkest dark and when he finally did, he sent a pulse of energy towards it.
A summons.
In the pit of blackness, Axel could see points of yellow light and could hear the sounds of scraping claws and swirling wind; the most basic Heartless there were, and some of the best spies. Axel called out again and opened his eyes, finding himself back in his room and surrounded on all sides by dark pools on the ground.
Then the pools began to grow darker until they seemed to absorb all the light around them. They gelled and curdled, turning into vaguely humanoid globs about a foot tall with twitching antenna, sharp claws and glowing yellow eyes.
"Hey there boys," Axel said to the creatures with a smirk, "I got a job for you."
