Rachel had been trying to settle in the new school, but she just couldn't. Even during her vacation, restlessness and nightmares kept her up more often than not and she was certain Kitty had noticed, following her with sideways looks and worried gazes. But she couldn't help it, the things that had haunted haunted Rachel's dreams back home were back with a vengeance and she couldn't shake it. The voices of the dying, accusations hurled in pain, everything she ever lost, speaking in her dreams until she awoke fighting back screams.
Then there was Jean. Jean was here, well, a Jean was here and it sure as hell didn't help Rachel's ability to relax.
So after tossing and turning in bed for a couple of hours, she'd retreated to the school's Library, pulling a random book off the shelf and settling in one of the more comfortable chairs to try and while away the time. Maybe she could read herself to sleep.
Yeah, right.
