Things are never quite the same as they used to be

SUMMARY: Anakin comes to make sure that his friend the Chancellor is okay.

Palpatine stood in his warehouse, his back to the entryway. His eyes were closed; he could sense his former (and soon-to-be again) apprentice on his way already. He had taken every precaution, since Anakin had suddenly appeared, to mask his presence in the Force, as he had done before while Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. After all, from what he'd said, Anakin was from before Palpatine had been revealed as Darth Sidious, and the immediate revelation of that fact might prove problematic.
Sidious was a man of few regrets. However, one of them was that he did not properly care for Anakin's training, and supervise him closer. Granted, there was much on his own end that he'd had to deal with, but one of his greatest disappointments was having to accept that Darth Vader would never live up to his true potential. However, now...it seemed that destiny had given him a second chance. One that he would not hesitate to use.
The warehouse was empty, but near where Palpatine conducted his daily business, it was decorated much as his office had been in the Senate building on Coruscant. He had even found a chair that resembled the one that he favored, complete with a hidden panel to conceal his lightsaber in. He smiled to himself. He was ready. And Darth Vader would rise again.
