Nine-twenty-five, and he was entering his apartment once again. Eddie had decided to dash up the seven flights of stairs rather than wait for the tail-end job traffic to squabble out the elevators. And if Norman Osborn's damn coffee spilled somewhat on the rush way up, well, good riddance. Edward was loathed to provide the drink in the first place, and even more loathed when he had learned he couldn't simply re-heat Angelica's old pots of coffee (turns out those were molding into some sponge-like material, and they stuck to his old plasticwear like band aids).
Norman had specifically stated he didn't care for Starbucks coffee. So Eddie waited twenty minutes in line for two venti cups of a dark brew.
Edward struggled to open the door one-handed, cursing vibrantly as coffee droplets scalded his fingers. Upon swinging the door wide, he stormed in with a dour look plastered on his face. The eggs, at least, were easier to obtain; Eddie had simply asked Crane to implore some bird creatures to pop a few out. Truth be told, he wasn't entirely certain it would work, but the notion was amusing enough for a few well-posed queries.
"Jon?" He called out as he frantically searched for an old coffee pot. Yes, indeed, Eddie actually possessed one. No, he couldn't be bothered to brew his own, not when his time was so valuable. A swift huff into the transparent pot liberated the plastic from a fine coat of dust.
"Are you ready yet? This is actually rather important."
Edward had mentioned, loftily, to his fellow Gothamite that his current employer was interested in Jon's capabilities. A few hints of a lab and a well placed almost-promise distanced Eddie from answering any detailed questions. For the time being.
"But please, do engage with yourself over my crucial plans, oh please," he muttered to himself as he poured two steaming cups of Starbucks coffee into the plastic pot.
