His first thought is that it's cold. The irony was that even inside that ice the suit kept him warm.

In his dreams, he dreams of ice and screaming; except this time, he is underneath, beating at the surface, calling out for someone to save him. From himself, preferably.

And then there's that sharp smell and something cold against his cheek, and he is brought back, and then he remembers pain and there's still that insistent murmuring at the back of his head. whatdoyouwantwhatdoyouwantwhatdoyouwant

Right now?

"No, I don't want to come back," he moans, his words slurring, barely able to accentuate the sharp clicks required for his native tongue (it comes off as barely intelligible). "Transmute it all, I don't care, it doesn't make sense anymore."

He wants to empty the contents of his stomach, but there's nothing to empty. He looks horrific - his eyes are sunken, ringed by black circles, he hasn't slept all week and he has been pushing himself physically and mentally. He's even lost weight.

Truth told, he looks rather pathetic right now.

It takes him a while to sort out what's in his head and what's outside of it. He's instinctually curled up on himself (so cold, so cold) and part of him is wondering if this is the frozen wastes of that alien world again, no, the Antarctic, that's what the humans call it in the future, or maybe he's back in the black, he doesn't, no, who is this and why in the pit are they pointing a gun at him?

Skyfire. Skyfire. That's the shape Skyfire has to wear in this wretched place, and for a split second he's relieved until he remembers that there is a gun pointed at him and despite what's gone on in the city they've been enemies for years.

Slowly, awareness creeps back into his eyes as he processes the situation. Oh, frag. Oh frag my life, oh, frag everything here and yes, most especially my life.

what do you want?

To get out of this. To. Something. Anything. Shut up, I don't care -

What he says next surprises even him.

"I'm sorry."

What surprises him more is that he means it.

I've lost my fragging mind. He's still not sure how he got here, there's only a vague, creeping awareness that he as well, truly, and wholly turned the whole mess to slag today.

He looks like he's been run over by a bus. There will always be that part of Skyfire that startles quietly and nearly moves to disregard everything and be concerned...

But what about everyone else? Everything else. Starscream having gone on a rampage... having modified himself to dangerous degrees. He keeps the gun pressed to Starscream's face until-

Until I'm sorry...

That almost ruins everything. He almost stops completely. The shuttle feels his chest tighten and he stares down through the thick glasses balanced on his nose.

And then his rage is renewed- and he slips back. To their earth and he knows it's a slur that he had been soaked in for his time spent with the Autobots.

"DON'T FEED ME THAT SLAG, DECEPTISCUM." He instantly regrets it. Visibly so- and he pulls back, and lowers the gun, but Skyfire sits and seethes anyway.

"I should just shoot you now, but that wouldn't solve anything. You're immortal and I-" He turns to shoot Starscream a cold glare.

"I'm not like you."

Deceptiscum.

Well.

If that's how it's going to be...

He feels sick, and not just because of his condition. He's cognizant, for once, that he's utterly and truly fragged up. No doubt Soundwave and Shockwave will be on him as well.

But Skyfire had to shout at him like that. And the very word is enough to trigger old instincts. Deceptiscum. That's all he is, isn't he? Might as well act it. In a way, it's almost like he's not talking to Skyfire, any more. Part of him hurts, there, and burns, and indeed, it's Skyfire's presence which lets him know that he has done wrong, that he has screwed up even by his own people's standards, but... he's angry. And he's not thinking straight.

"I meant what I said," he says, taking the oppertunity to slowly get the rest of the armor off, his numb fingers fumbling at clasps and emergency releases.

"I am. But you know, frag you, Autobot. You know, I could tell you exactly how to kill me. There's a way. Slag, I will. Take a spike of raw, crystaline energon - unstable, preferably - and right here," he taps the center of his chest. "Right here, and I'd die, completely and totally."

He slips his legs out of the armor, only to find that he's too tired to stand, collapsing to the ground.

"But you're right. You're not like me. You couldn't do it, could you? Here I am, utterly helpless. I've done wrong, I've hurt people, I might have killed a few - though for once, would you believe I tried not to? After all, what good are the conquered if they're dead?" he regrets saying that, he shouldn't be saying this to Sky, but the shuttle said exactly the wrong thing. "I'm dangerous. Even if I try, I'll probably do it again. Break, snap, fall. So you should, really. Put me out of my misery, why don't you."

His glance is pointed, almost accusatory.

"But you won't. Because you're soft-sparked. Because you're not like me."

He actually lies down on the floor (which is wet from the melted ice), curling up slightly as he does.

He can't help it. He hasn't been this angry in a long time. He can't even remember-

He slides the gun back into his jacket. All of it hurts. The words. The cold exchange- like back during the war. Autobot. Decepticon. He hasn't told Starscream what marks he still bears. The faded purple brand on his chest like a bruise. Or the red one on his back.

He folds in on himself. Squeezing his eyes shut a moment before turning to the heavy door.

In all honesty, despite his anger, finding Starscream locked in ice like that-

It had almost sent him into trembling mess. Trapped there- frozen and aware. And it had been Starscream...

But he's still so damned angry. Furious. So he turns his back on his Seeker and pauses in the doorway.

"Let your glory keep you warm tonight." Your shame.

The door shuts and locks from the outside.
