Saturday night was no different from any other day of the week for Dr. Banner. He neither took breaks nor weekends, the week blending into one chaotic jumble of research and the occasional nap. He had trained himself to work off of less sleep than most could function on, bolstering himself with a carefully balanced---but heavy-handed---cocktail of antipsychotics, antidepressents, tranquilizers and stimulants.
No one ever mistook him for a stable man.
Well, aside from Kitty Pryde, who at least pretended that he could be a functioning member of society. She was a sweet girl and a godsend; he wasn't sure if he would have been able to get his research off the ground if not for her presence. It wasn't so much what she did in the lab as what she did for his sanity.
Given the events of the last week and her loss of powers, it was no surprise that Bruce wasn't doing so well himself. He slid his glasses up to tangle in his hair, digging at his tired eyes with the heels of his hands. He'd gone over Betty's bloodwork over and over. The Hulk mutation was just gone.
