She was sitting at her desk at the time, which was, Atsuko Jackson's self-imposed schedule considered, really not all that common. Her thin shoulders were hunched over all that fucking paperwork (she was starting to regret not giving a shit when Edgeworth started talking), her face tilted slightly downward underneath the weight of her own hair, and she'd been progressively sinking towards the temptingly flat surface as the morning went on. Even with the coffee, she'd pulled a ridiculous shift last night, and she was almost about to call it a day and take a nap in some abandoned office when she heard whatever the fuck that was supposed to be. She (due to playercestuous reasons) had been out patrolling during the Gutsucker fiasco, but Atsuko had still seen the wounds after the fact, and she'd hear McClane screaming over the comm, and the way people --the point was that they were on edge. Anyone could be a sick monster here, no matter how innocent they looked. They always forgot that. She'd forget it in a week or two, but right now she was tense as hell.

The other point was that when the screech echoed it, her head jerked up immediately and comically. Eyes narrowed, one hand at her hip, she glared over in the direction of the offender; none of the rest of them seemed willing to deal with the cause, even though Lassiter... had him sitting in... she wasn't even going to go there. Fine with her. Leave it to the woman who couldn't even change tenses in English without sounding like an idiot; great plan.

"Please shut up," Atsuko said. Simple. Elegant. She liked it.

Well, apparently the racket he'd thought would be gone by now, as many false hopes Saitou had, had made up her mind to annoy the new 'detective.' Saitou once again sighed through his nose, glancing to Atsuko once before putting down the case file he was looking over and lighting another cigarette. Somehow this felt like it was going to be a long day...

People were casting him glares. Shawn could feel them burn into his skin, but he didn't mind the heat. Police officers had to abide by the law too and if any of them decided to pull a gun at Shawn, Lassiter had a fast draw and even he did not want to kill him dead (most of the time).

Shawn smirked at afro lady and Asian dude, winking playfully before throwing his arms dramatically around Lassiter.

"You don't---you don't remember?" He batted his eyelashes, deciding that this genderfuck stuff might not be so bad if he could at least get a rise out of his frienemies. "Our passionate night in the Arabia, the satin sheets, the caaandles."

Insert heaving bosom here.

FUCK I WAS SO SICK YESTERDAY I'M SORRY GUYS /late to shit forever :( frobocop October 14 2009, 16:03:24 UTC
She had just. Been staring. Silently, for no real reason.

Well, at least that explained some of whatever the fuck was going on.

"That's happening again?" she said quietly, aiming the question more at Saitou (it should be more of a concern for him anyway, given his theatrics last time it had gone around) than either of the borderline retarded manchildren. This was Lassiter's... fight? Could she really call it a fight? Whatever it was, it was clearly his to take care of.

There was quite the commotion going on in the main office, more so than usual. As a detective, she felt it her duty to investigate. If Elisa were a bit more honest with herself, she knew that she was just curious. She wasn't sure what to expect, but it certainly wasn't an absolutely livid Lassiter glaring at a woman on the floor. Glancing over at Atsuko and Saitou showed they were just as... taken aback as she.

"Well," Elisa interrupted. "It seems we have a guest today. Who wants to introduce me?" She looked down at Spencer, and offered her a hand up.

Shawn jumped on his feet like a cat. He smoothed down his rumpled shirt and pulled up his bloody pants and shook his head at the detective. Around them, more officers were poking their head in and looking at them curiously.

"Now, is that any way to treat a lady?" Shawn tsked before turning his attention to the ladies piping up and making themselves known. Afro lady looked a little scary, but hello hot new woman.

"Shawn Spencer at your service. Normally, I'm more masculine." He introduced himself, grinning and bowing. "I was the head psychic at the Santa Barbara police department. I hear you might need some help here?"

"Normally more masculine?" Elisa raised an eyebrow at that, but then, it was the City. "Good to meet you in person, at any rate, Spencer. I'm Detective Elisa Maza. I see you've already met some of the other officers."

She shot a look over to Lassiter. "At this point, I'm willing to take help from any avenue, especially when it comes to a person like the Joker. Why don't you and Detective Lassiter come down to my office so I can brief you on what we're really dealing with here."

"Ah. More City weirdness, then." How quickly she had adapted! She was highly tempted to roll her eyes at Detective Lassiter, but resisted. There were other things to do.

"Well, let's just see how much help he can be of right now. If you two would follow me to my office, please? There's a psychotic clown on the loose and I'm very interested in what he had to say to you."
