[Layla plops down in front of her, looking interested at her face. She knows she's got the headphones on, so settles with waving at her instead of calling Lyra's name]

The eyes were definitely a dead giveaway. But it's also me you're talking to, and I didn't lose my powers!

[Layla grins right back and sneaks a glance at Pan.]

I guess it could have been worse if you lost him, right?

What happens, exactly, if two people switch daemons? We don't exactly have those where I'm from.

Definitely not. I think I'd prefer another body over another soul, that's for sure. At least with another body you still think and feel the same!

Mutants are born with their powers, so I think for a lot of them they notice THEIR power being gone first before realizing they have something else. Unless, of course, it's something that's difficult to control.
