That's definitely not something the police are expecting at all.

The stupid, arrogant man in question is Chief John McClane, and he's busy organizing the effort to finally nail this creepy little gut-sucker girl once and for all, but while he'd normally be right up front - she's a complete wildcard, and he's actually playing it safe for once. He knows his guts are just as easily sucked out as anybody's, so the invulnerable people have been sent to the West End to try and round her up, now that they finally know who they're looking for.

He's in his office, monitoring the comm chatter over the channel as best he can, trying to visualize the operation in his mind. Not at all liking hanging back, but not wanting to be a distraction. The focus needs to be on taking her down, not protecting their fellow cops.

He's drinking coffee and finishing a powdered donut. Not at all thinking they've been completely duped.

Like any day, Optimus is in his office with his own cup of coffee, checking reports, looking over bills, ensuring that everything is running smoothly. It's a very thankless job, but hey. He's been doing thankless jobs for over a thousand years. At least "city commissioner" had a better ring to it than "space bridge repair bot."

He's aware that the force is closing in on the gutsucker case, and knows that John is handling it from his office. He flips through another report, and puts it on a stack before picking up the entire stack and heading towards the front desk to give it to Nico.

He does feel bad that the girl is so overworked, but ever since Troy was ported out, they've only had Nico. Maybe he should start recruiting more office workers.

Hating one's life is part and parcel of the whole goth thing---it's what gives life to the darkness and gloom and sense of never being happy ever. So, hating her job should have deepened her commitment in the gothic subculture and made her dark-black little heart all the more genuine.

Really, it just makes her cranky. Her life has become a revolving door of avoiding her roommates and flipping through files. Her work days have been longer and longer, grating her patience down to a fine powder.

Stress is high in the police station, fraying what's left of her patience. She gives John a wide breadth and makes sure that her frowns at Optimus are especially pointed.

She's just about to go on break when the girl comes in, calm as you please. Nico raises an eyebrow at her, pushing the leaning tower of peachy folders aside.

"Can I help you?"

Juston had no idea what was about to go down as he walked into the main office wearing his red work shirt and jeans. A slightly sleepy look in his eyes as he carried his toolbox under one arm.

He waved politely, in a somewhat shy manner to Optimus and John, still a little weird-ed out by McClane's resemblance to someone he met back home.

"Uh... hey. I heard you guys had another Wagon break down?" he said, figuring that he was just going to do some simple work for a little extra cash.

Have they really not made her image public? For a moment, Riful feels almost disappointed. All of these officers too weak to go and find her are simply standing around, and not one seems to realize what they've allowed into the building. It's upsetting how little they've done, though it makes her job easier.

But then she smiles angelically as the aura of potential washes over her like a tidal wave. The men are nothing exceptional--she's used to that, given--but the girl, the one addressing her... she can't identify the nature of its source, but it's exquisite. She deserves a closer look, but the rest can go.

Without so much as blinking, she lashes out faster than should be possible, tentacles erupting from both arms to stab at (or through--she really doesn't care as long as they die!) the three men's vitals; Nico she leaves untouched. Riful is more interested in seeing how capable she is of defending herself; as always, she assumes, the girl will fail to match her levels of power.

Juston stepped to the side not knowing the danger that was ahead. He was simply trying to be polite not wanting to interrupt McLane and Prime's conversation, not paying attention to the strange girl standing behind him.

His head titled for a moment catching a glimpse at Roful's horrifying transformation. His jaw dropping in shock as he suddenly felt something slicing into his side just inches away from his vital organs.

"Uuuuunnnggggh!" he cried out grimacing as he saw his own blood. Dropping his metal toolbox which struck the floor with an audible 'CLANG!'

The clang of metal on the floor caused Optimus to whip around abruptly. He had only a second to react before the long tentacle jabs into his shoulder, spraying blood on the wall of the station. He gasps in pain, but immediately pulls away.

With one hand pressed to his shoulder (ineffectual, as blood runs between his fingers), he summons the hammer with his free hand. He has to get this monster out of the station.

"JOHN!" he screams down the hall, towards the Chief's office. "Pull the force off of the Gutsucker case and tell them to get down here this instant!"

Grissom had been on his way to the lab when he heard Optimus's shout. He'd been doing this job long enough to tell from the tone of his voice that something was incredibly wrong. He hurriedly grabbed a gun and headed over, staying close to the walls.

And the situation looked grim. With Optimus and Juston both down, it was obvious that Riful was hostile. Grissom wasn't one to shoot first, but it was clear that if Optimus and Juston were going to get any medical attention, he'd have to open fire while Riful's back was turned.

He fired three times and made sure to duck through an open door to dodge any potential retaliation before shouting to Optimus, "How bad are you injured?"

Juston dropped to his knees clutching his side. His heart racing as he gazed down in horror at his wound, seeing a considerable amount of blood. He couldn't tell how deep the tendril had sliced him but, he knew it was bad. His green eyes widening in shock as he tried to scurry away from the girl-turned monster as he heard the shots ring out.

He couldn't get far, the boy trying not to scream as he suddenly felt more blood dripping down his side. "Oh god..." he whispered to himself as he turned around gazing up at Gil and the wounded Prime. He was starting to feel dizzy.

McClane didn't need to be screamed at. The sudden need for him to be holding his own guts in with his hand was warning enough.

He crawls awkwardly toward the comm unit, gurgling and spitting up blood, still dazed and confused by what the hell just happened - on some level, he knows exactly what's going on, on another he's just blinded with pain.

"Get... *kkk* get back here..." he spits into his comm to the team in the West End. "She's here! *ffffpppkk* Ugh... *hff* *hfff* Riful's here... to kill all of us..."

One second, quiet. Paperwork. A mild headache and the stability that having a 'real job' offers. The next second, blood and screaming and her senses turned inside out with the sheer force of the stimuli blasting at her. Nico is in shock for a few seconds, stunned physically by the gnarled tentacles shoving her aside and mentally by the carnage that just broke out from this innocent little girl.

It's only a few seconds, though. She sucks her lower lip between her teeth and gnaws, breaking the skin. She tastes copper pennies and the gummy plastic flavor of recently re-applied lipstick. Spitting, she puts her hands on her breastbone and shrieks, "When blood is shed, let the Staff of One emerge!"

This is a monster. Nico knows how to deal with monsters.

Exquisite. The weapon does look a little ominous, but she'll give the girl time to make her move; analysis is very important, Riful finds, in these cases. And so too--she gouges deeper into the men, effortlessly, her eyes bright and interested--is emotional coercion.
