Goliath, for his part, has not flown so openly in his tenure here, either, but things have changed. As an official part of the police force now - a situation still new and strange to him - he is slowly growing accustomed to the idea that he does not have to skulk in the shadows, as discovery is not a catastrophic consequence any longer.

However, that is all in the back of his mind now, as he is truly only interested in meting out catastrophic consequences of his own. Elisa's assault and hospitalization must be avenged, and he is currently following the communicator trace to pinpoint the position of Harley Quinn and deliver justice. Uncaring of anyone in his path.

It was a form she would recognize anywhere. Gliding along on a higher current, she watched Goliath fly onward with a steadfast determination she also recognized. He was on the hunt.

It wouldn't do to not say hello to an old friend, would it?

Folding her wings, she dove, unfurling them to catch the air when she'd reached his level. "Goliath," she said by way of greeting, her tone dripping with amusement. She made no move to attack or even approach further. Simply gliding along as if she hadn't a care in the world.

If anyone in any universe could get him to stop and sway from his warpath, it is Demona. As much as he would never admit it, she will still grasp his attention every time. No matter how long it has been since she was his angel of the night.

Another thought buried deeply now, as he spins in mid-air to face that voice he will never forget.

"Demona!" he growls, his voice rife with anger.

She merely smiled in response. "I take it you have yet to find the girl who so brutally attacked your dear policewoman. A pity." It was clear she found it anything but.

And yet, Elisa Maza hadn't appeared to be terribly injured. Demona didn't want to dwell on thoughts of the woman's recovery. "Is it true what I saw on the network? Are you actually attempting to play police officer?" Traces of disgust were evident in her voice. Couldn't he see that playing the trained animal for those creatures was beneath him?

That low, rolling rumble so characteristic of Goliath in his foul moods emanates from his throat.

"We do not have to hide here. A gargoyle can no sooner stop protecting the castle than breathing the air. It is what we do. It is who we are. Which leads me to wonder just what it is that you have become."

She ignores the attempted jab. "Even you can't be so foolish as to think you can live and work among them as if you were one of them. Really Goliath, how long do you expect this farce to last?"

"Long enough to disprove the delusions you hold as gospel," is the terse response.

Then, a thought. "Have you dragged Macbeth here with you?"

She snarls at the name, her eyes flaring red. "No," she spits out, "and may this world be spared his presence."

"If only it could have been spared yours as well," he returns, with less venom than he would like.

"Unless the sheer variety of beings in this world opens your eyes to the madness of your impossible vendetta against humanity."

"Believe me, Goliath, I have no interest in remaining in this blasted reality."

She's silent for a moment, gliding along. "I take it that you intend to serve as the police department's night shift. Are they aware of your vulnerability during the day? Have you actually trusted them with that knowledge, your supposed comrades-in-arms?"

The white glow of Goliath's eyes begins to fade somewhat, as she has made no aggressive move beyond speech, and seems to be attempting another debate. These futile arguments that run in circles, and yet he cannot help but engage in.

Gliding side by side again.

"Perhaps that is no longer a vulnerability of mine," he states, evenly. A subterfuge, of course... but if he can convince Demona he no longer has that weakness, she will not be tempted to exploit it.

She only smiles, showing a bit of fang. "Then why are you only beginning this hunt of yours now?"

"Ensuring Elisa's safety and recovery was of paramount importance," he responds. Never the best of liars, but he could fool Dracon. Demona, of course, knows him better, and she isn't an idiot. Still, a seed of doubt is better than nothing.

And he attempts a subject shift to draw any further attention away from this point. "What brings you out from behind your corporate desk? Running errands for Xanatos in hopes that he will grant you favors, even after your attempt to exterminate humanity with a virus? Even you cannot be that deluded."

"I run errands for no one!" she snaps back, leaving the discussion of stone sleep behind. "I simply wanted to stretch my wings."

And that's the truth. She's still unsettled by the events of the previous day... after the chaos caused by the Weird Sisters, she was wary of being influenced in such a manner.

"I see."

He lets a moment of silence pass, with nothing but the sound of their wings through the air.

"How fortunate it is that we can do such a thing in this world, without the worry of hunters or even simple human discovery."

"Yes." But she is who she is and she can't leave it at that. "How fortunate that you can ignore the duty you've chosen for yourself and focus on personal vendettas instead."
