John hadn't had a real sparring match since he'd come to the city. He'd kept himself in shape by his own standards, though without a facility with increasable gravity and pressure, weightlifting was too easy.

He was used to lifting a half ton of armor. No, more than that; he was used to living in a half ton of armor. The MJOLNIR mk. IV was more his skin than his own skin ever could be. It'd gotten to the point over the years that he had simply stopped taking the suit off. It took three men to get him in and out of the armor, so it was just easier to live in it. Tony had rigged up a system to get him in and out quickly, but he still preferred to keep in his familiar shell ( ... )

The faceplate moved up, and Tony just smirked from beneath the mask. "Well, I think I'm about as ready as I'll ever be," he said loftily, one arm lifting slightly. He looked down at the glove, and turned his hand over, inspecting it. Servos within whirred softly, almost indistinguishable from the din of normal noises, like lights, and generators, but it was there.

Everything seemed to be in working order. The faceplate slid back down into place, and Tony activated his HUD, lights flashing to life, and the suit powered into battle mode.

"The big question, Chief," he said, the mechanical tone of his voice filtering out most emotion or even inflection from his voice. "Are you ready?" he asked. Well, nobody had ever said he was modest.

"Always," Chief said, putting on his helm. It pressurized with a soft hiss, clicking into place. The HUD flashed to life, his shield readout, communications, and enemy tracking blinking in various corners of his peripherals.

Tony appeared as a yellow blob on the screen. Unregistered bogey.

He crouched slightly, lowering his center of gravity, and gave a come-hither gesture with one hand.

He figured he might as well give him the first shot.

Tony looked at him with a curl of his lips, but of course, Chief wouldn't see that, he'd just see the blank metal face of the suit. Diagnostics blinked that they had completed, no problems, no errors yet.

He moved. Quick, quicker than he had ever been, even in his last Extremis suit. He had made improvements, after all. He was in Chief's personal space, moving to punch him in the gut.

Well, it was rudimentary, but he needed to get the full range of the armor.
