Under normal circumstances, he would have Apparate into the apartment. It was still early, but Remus had no doubts that Edgeworth would be awake, as he Apparated into an alleyway a block down the street instead. He walked the remainder of the way, wand out as he rid the street of the remains of squirrels and birds. The smell was nauseating and did nothing to help the nervousness that had set in long before he'd arrived.
There was nothing to be done about it now though and he unlocked the front door with a spell rather than ringing the bell. Several flights of stairs - he'd gotten used to avoiding the lifts when he'd noticed Edgeworth doing that same - and he was at the door. Here, he froze, and cursed himself for being able to knock on a door and feeling as nervous as he might have in fifth year. It was ridiculous and enough to make him knock at least once on the door, slowly gathering his nerve, the familiar calm setting in.
He knew what he had to do, it was just a matter of doing it.
