Tony had arrived to the party relatively early, and although the suit he had managed to find wasn't exactly a Georgio Armani, but it would do for the event, at the very least. He straightened his bow-tie, and took a small sip of the water he had managed to find.

His eyes scanned the room, keeping an eye out for anyone he should probably avoid, although he was Tony Stark, and meeting and greeting was what he did best, after all. He was perfectly willing to swerve and move through the small amount of people who had arrived, feeling somewhat at home in the ballroom.

The small band that played the music that echoed throughout the ballroom seemed to liven up Raven's spirits a bit, allowing her to loosen up, greet an occasional person she felt was important to speak with on behalf of her gracious employer.
She slowly made her way around the ballroom, having done her best to avoid the dance floor at all costs so far - and she took another slow sip of the champagne in her hand. Eyes grazing the crowd, she then spotted him - the way he seemed to hold his posture, how he was dressed... this was definitely someone important that she should speak with.

Raven casually walked towards him, casting him a warm smile the moment she believed she had caught his attention.
"A beautiful evening, is it not?"

Tony's eyes shifted from admiring the slowly growing crowd of people to the woman who approached him. He couldn't help but allow a small, coy smirk float to his lips, and he reached out to take her hand. "I do believe it just became so, yes," he said simply, moving to kiss her knuckles in a greeting.

When his head rose from the debonair movement, he lifted an eyebrow, and his smirk broke into something of a grin. "I don't believe we've met," he said simply, releasing her hand as he did so. "I'm Tony Stark."

Raven couldn't help but smile, forcing herself not to roll her eyes at the charm he slathered on. She allowed herself to let out a soft laugh at the kiss he gave her hand before gently pulling her hand back to her own side.
"Quite the charmer, I see."

However she immediately gave pause at the mention of his name, a smirk creeping up at the corner of her lips. Ah, she should have figured as much.
"Tony, that should not surprise me." taking a longer sip of her champagne, she paused before continuing, "You'll know me as Raven."

Tony's eyes widened a small amount, before he shook his head and chuckled to himself softly. "Well its good to finally meet you in person, Raven," he said, a dashing smile curling up his lips. "You do look beautiful tonight," he complimented, bringing his own glass of water up for a long drink.

"Did you come alone?" he questioned her, once his glass was lowered from his face.

"Ah, no."
She turned slightly, addressing a dark-haired young man standing nearby before turning back.

"I am simply making the rounds in the room - this is my employer's event, I anticipated that he would be pleased if I greeted and mingled with a few of his guests as well."

Tony nodded, flashing her a smile as he did so. "I'm sure that would make him happy, if he's like most people who throw these types of things," he mentioned lightly. He had always liked it when Pepper and Happy had made rounds at his own functions, especially when he was otherwise indisposed.

"Do you think your escort would mind if I asked you for a dance?" he questioned, indicating the band, which was winding down on a song. Perfect opportunity, as always.

The offer surprised her, and the emotion was clearly written all over her features as she stared at him for what seemed like a full minute, when it was only a few seconds in passing. She... had not anticipated someone to ask her to dance, especially not someone like him.

However she managed to smile, gently setting her glass of champagne aside and offering out her hand.
"I do not think he would, I would be honored."
She sighed gently, enough that he wouldn't be able to hear her, just enough to wind down her now tense stomach at the thought.

ROFL. Wrong Tony account. liverletdie March 30 2009, 01:38:13 UTC
Tony laughed at the apparent surprise, and took her hand gently. "Its a party, what would it be if there weren't people out on the floor dancing?" he asked her, leading her out onto the dance floor while the band took a slight breather.

They passed a server, and he set his glass of water down on the tray, perfectly willing to find another later if he was going to have the honor of dancing with the host's assistant. On top of that, a beautiful woman and someone who didn't want him to die of some terrible disease. Really, things were doing quite well for Tony Stark, thus far.

"I suppose that's true..."
Raven tossed a few glances around at the others they passed, almost uncomfortably, subconsciously squeezing the hand that was holding hers once they made it out onto the dance floor. Alright, nervous did not even begin to describe the feeling she was now having - they were most likely one of the first couples to dance that night. At least, as far as Raven could tell.

"I must admit I am still surprised you came - others with much less of a reason to stay away are still at home, yet here you are."

ITS HARD TO KEEP THEM STRAIGHT, OK? ;o; liverletdie March 30 2009, 02:12:33 UTC
Tony gave her a soft, reassuring squeeze, before leading her onto the actual dance floor, taking the lead like he had been taught to do. Really, Tony Stark did know how to Ballroom dance, after all.

Tony couldn't help but chuckle at her comment. "Maybe so, but this is something I'm very good at," he said confidently, drawing her into a twirl out on the floor.

She was unable to keep the smile from gracing her lips, managing to make somewhat of a giggle at the twirl before resting a hand up atop his shoulder, allowing him to lead in the dance.

Raven felt much more at ease now after that, her confidence lifting up enough for her to speak clearly. "So I can see," her tone was filled with amusement just before she laughed softly again, "And here I thought this night would either result in disaster, or be somewhat of a drag."

Tony smiled as he led her through the dance, comfortable on the floor as he swayed and moved Raven across the floor. He lifted an eyebrow in a question as he moved.

"Oh it couldn't have been that bad without me," he said cheekily. He dipped her smoothly, before pulling her back, and resuming the dance.

She continued to smile quite brightly, the relief washing over her that she did not have to spend the entire night standing around feeling uncomfortable with herself and everyone else.

"On the contrary, I at least know who you are. Most of those here are strangers to me. I mean --- I attempted to convince Spider-Man into coming so that I would know someone, however." she made a slight head-tilt motion at nothing in particular. "As you can see, I wasn't very successful. He has other things he must worry about. At least with you here, I feel more at ease."

Tony shook his head. "Maybe I'll have to tell Peter he needs to grow up, then," he said simply. "If he refused an invitation from you then he needs some words," he said, the words were stern, but his tone was light. He was, mostly joking, after all. He spun her around again, before bringing her closer again.

She managed another laugh, thankful that she had at least some grace naturally instilled in her - it was by that alone that she managed to not trip over herself, her dress, or even worse; him. She allowed her hand to rest a bit more relaxed on his shoulder than before.

"Peter is... concerned about things of late. I do not wish to bother him more than I already have." her words nearly trailed off at the end of her sentence.
