Dan was finding it difficult adjusting to his new life. It was like being born again only you skipped infancy and those awkward teenage years.
Laurie was there, but she was different. Maybe it was from being with Tank, being on her own for a few months, being here with these mutants and villains worse than anything they have ever faced. But, then he saw Doctor Manhattan and Rorschach like a punch to the face. They came out of nowhere and Dan was not sure if he was glad to see them or not.
It would help living in the City at least.
With Rorschach, he had a plan: patrol, run into some thugs, beat the crap out of them, and leave them for the police.
With Doctor Manhattan, everyone had a security blanket. In case something went wrong, they could count on God incarnate to help them out.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. Dan would not feel cornered by estrogen. He'd have his partner back if he was willing and life might be relatively normal for once or as normal as it got for the Crimebusters.
He waited by the window in their living room, fully expecting Rorschach to just break in through the door.
