WHO: team futurebatwoman for midnighting
WHERE: THE STREETS™
WHEN: Christmas Day :)
WARNINGS: Lots of swearing and possibly some over the top violence, because grumpy Midnighter.
SUMMARY: A couple of vigilantes fighting crime instead of facing the fact that they're lonely.
FORMAT: Whatever you want, but I'm starting it out with para.

Midnighter isn't completely unused to (occasionally self-imposed) loneliness, but that doesn't mean it never gets to him. Especially now, and here, in this dimension completely devoid of his family.

He really does think of Christmas like any other day, though. He has no nostalgic attachment left to it after Bendix, and the raw commercialism of it has always grated on his nerves. But Jenny had enjoyed the whole production, and he missed his daughter's youthful love of the holiday more than he was entirely willing to admit to himself. He'd turned down the company of the girl on the Network, the one who could only be a handful of years older than Jenny's self-inflicted teenage, because it was easier than wallowing in the fact that he'd trade just about anything to be back in the right dimension for the day.

Hell, he'd even take that one horrible Christmas when Jenny had accidentally created Santa and they'd had to deal with that Lobo asshole over this. That's saying something.

Either way, it certainly doesn't help his mood that without Apollo around, he hasn't gotten laid in a month and a half either. It's probably why he is stalking the streets a tad grumpily on what should otherwise have been a quiet, chilly Christmas day, just praying for some poor sod mugger or pimp to show up and give him something to punch.
