[ Kate had felt some guilt earlier -- not for missing the initial spa date but at how she had returned earlier than announced, yet kept herself laying low. Returning to the City, despite not feeling the fact she left, had not been as easy as she thought. Well, it's silly to fool herself. She misses Gotham.

But today's a day for relaxation and she can use it. She sinks more into the warm water and leans herself back. ]

Hey, it's no problem. I owe you for this.

I don't feel that way at all. I just feel very grateful for everything.

[She gives a small shrug. Shahrazad is well aware this must sound strange so she moves on quickly.]

Maybe it's because of the holiday coming up. America has very nice ones, don't you think?

[ She remembers what Shahrazad had told her back when they first met. ]

There are other kinds of holidays. Christmas is a big one because of religion and now commercialism. Everyone gets into it.

[ She crosses her legs underneath the water. ]

What kind of holidays do you have back home?

None in the Empire. [Except funerals to celebrate the life of a person. That's too morbid. Shahrazad switches to something brighter.]

I heard the "Outside" enjoys many different ones. I never got the chance to see it for myself. Maybe it was like this city.

The holidays are a beautiful time. Will you celebrate?

Yes. [Shahrazad smiles warms.] I don't know how besides buying gifts yet. I believe taking time to pick something to express how I feel about them is a good way to start celebrating regardless.

[soldarius]

You don't need to buy gifts. It's not about presents. I guess... the meaning differs from person to person, but it's a time for family, friends, appreciating each other. All those good feelings.

The scar on your chest. [Worried frown.] Did you get into a fight?

[soldarius]

[ She allows for silence, the occasionally gentle splashing of water piercing it. No one has ever asked about the scar, not like that. Not with a mention of a possible fight.

Without even realizing it, she presses her fingers against the scar. ]

An accident a long time ago now.

An accident... [Shahrazad considers pressing for more but, given her reaction it did not seem like a good idea. She smiles apologetically.]

The important thing is that you're alright now. I'm sorry if that question disturbed you.

It's alright; I get it sometimes since I got hurt here. [ Indicating her scar once more, as if agreeing it is a bizarre place for an injury. ]

It is. [Shahrazad agrees quickly.] I find scars a little fascinating too. A Methuselah rarely, if ever, scars.
