[ There's a red-and-black crouched shape at the corner of two dark streets, huddled like a not particularly threatening gargoyle and typing away on her comm. She usually pays closer attention to her surroundings, but tonight there's some quick hacking-and-tracking to be done, in terms of catching up with the weapon-dealing group she's been tracking for a while. Almost got it... ]

[The voice comes from behind her. Low, gravelly, full of shadows....He's been practicing.]

[ --whoa what?! She swears she didn't just nearly drop her comm, and in an instant she's bolting upright and twisting around, already poised to leap into empty space behind her if necessary to get some space between herself and-- whoever. (It can't be him, not again.) ]

[He remains in the shadows. This is a Robin, right? Or was once. They were always cycling through, like stale air.]

[ The white-lensed eyes are narrowing, trying to get a better look at whoever it is. He's acting like Batman. He's about as tall as Batman is. But he doesn't sound exactly right. She doesn't move, not to relax and not to escape. ]

[Regardless of what she thinks, this part is at least true. Batman? Joker? Someone else? All accurate.]

[ Okay, this is weird. She doesn't want to take out a weapon, but bemusement is fading pretty fast into distrust. ]

[ Even through the mask, this is a pretty damn skeptical look he's getting. And she doesn't look away or lower her guard at all, but out comes the communicator again. Most her attention stays on him, but flickering glances take in the various posts she scrolls through.

There's got to be an explanation for this. ]

[Part of him wants her to find something. An answer. He hasn't completely settled into this mindset. He can feel benevolence and valor tugging at his bones like a sickness.]

[ Bellatrix is the first person to snag her attention, acting decidedly un-Bellatrix-like. She focuses on it just a little closer, reading through transcribed conversations a little more intently. She's acting... nice. And from what Carrie can tell, it looks earnest. And that conversation with Lust...

When she looks up again, it's with fresh suspicion. ]
