And so she went. Flying, uncertain, one mind to abandon the city and another to attack the beast, but something else entirely drove her to that blackened church, she a white comet trailing flames through the midnight dark.
The signs of fighting and struggle were no hard thing to miss; though her landing scorched the ground beneath her clawed feet, it was nothing compared to what damage had already been done. Humans everywhere, stained with Illidan's magic, and blood. The mouth of the church was obscured, blocked by the familiar jagged pillars of Zelgadis's magic. Even from here, she could feel it. She walked, burning the uneven ground, and her eyes sought for a familiar face. She didn't find it. But she did find Zelgadis.
He was dead. His eyes were closed, his face and body covered with more stone than she'd ever seen it. When her hands, shaking with a flickering fire, reached to touch his face, it was cold as the ground beneath her. His ears were longer; his clothes covered in blood, cut with steel and a blade that burned like fire. What magic remained in his body was too weak to be felt through the smog that was the invading monster, and that of the demon just ahead. Within her, bones and muscles quavered like icicles on the branch; the flames rising from her fur burned ever brighter.
On slow feet, the Esper walked into the church.

With a burst of fire and flame, the tattoos on his body glittered to life, and his skin almost darkened even more. He felt his lips curl into a grin, looking on that magic that came to him. Onto the bright power that he craved.

"Illidan." Her voice was strong and deep as the Earth itself, cold ground in winter, but her presence still burned as vibrant as a summer sun. She walked forward on the balls of her feet, scorching little more than ash. There were no weapons in her hands.
"What have you done?"
