Cass had been following a suspect most of the night, waiting for the right time to strike. He was probably a drug supplier of some sort, and his body language indicated that he was heading for a rendezvous with some other unsavory characters.

As he entered the alleyway to meet up with his two pals, she scanned the rooftops for the perfect place to drop down before noticing a familiar figure. A small smile formed on her face and she silently leaped over to the adjacent building. Holding her tattered cape close, she quietly approached Laura to take a spot next to her if the girl failed to notice her. But knowing her friend, that was unlikely.

Laura noticed the costumed girl a few moments before she landed nearby, by smell more than anything else, and her green eyes flicked over towards her. She was bracing herself for a fight when she recognized the smell, and the body language, and even the heart beat. Cassandra. She had never seen her costume before, though. After a second or two she relaxed, nodding to the other girl.

It was safe to assume she was tracking the third arrival...that, or she had spotted Laura and just decided to stop and see her, though she wasn't certain if Cass was the type of person that did that.

"What are you looking for?" She finally asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Cass could see the recognition wash over Laura's body. It didn't really bother her--she trusted Laura, and the girl wasn't any looser with words than she was. She nodded back with a slight smile in silent greeting.

"Him," she replied quietly, pointing to the third man, who was starting to show his wares to the other two. "Works for... Ninja gang."

Laura nodded, considering the third man. He was obviously here to sell something, which explained the rather rapid intake of customers her two fish had. They had probably been gathering extra money for the buy.

"I was following the other two." She explained, unnecessarily, as she considered them. "I was only going to wait another minute."

They were armed and clearly a bit on edge--she could see a subtle, nervous movement when one's hand brushed past his concealed gun. Cass had been squeezing the ninjas pretty hard in an attempt to shut down their drug deals, and she could imagine that Laura would inspire a similar fear in thugs.

Her smile widened slightly as she turned to Laura. "Why wait?" And with that, she vaulted over the edge of the rooftop, her torn cape billowing behind her.

Congratulations, Cassandra, you'd actually managed to surprise Laura. The dark haired girl stared for a second as her brain caught up, and then she was following, tossing herself off the roof after the costumed hero.

She landed on the edge of a fire escape railing halfway towards the ground, dropping into a bunched up crouch and springing forward, using the momentum to slam one of them to the ground with her arm, curling into a roll as she landed behind him and spinning back around as she stood, several feet away.

Cass controlled her descent with her cape, and when she was near the ground, vaulted off of the wall and directly at her target. She placed all her momentum into a tackle that sent him tumbling, and she sprung off of him and back onto her feet. Only three opponents hardly seemed fair, really.

Laura was thinking the same thing, as she watched Cass drive the newcomer to the ground a moment after she did. That left one man left, and he looked...honestly, rather terrified.

But he also appeared to be trying to pull a gun out of his pocket. She hissed faintly in irritation and charged him, claws coming out on her left hand.

Cass was busy tying up her suspect with some zip ties--she trusted Laura to be able to handle the remaining one without any trouble--when she heard the sound of the claws coming out. She spun around, eyes a bit wide behind her mask. She'd never known this Laura to kill anyone, but in the past...

"Wait," she called out a bit urgently, abandoning her target and moving in to get the drug dealer out of harm's way if need be.

Laura didn'tt react to Cassandra's shout, but she wasn't actually intending to kill the drug dealer anyway. Injure, though? Oh yes. As she darted forward he raised the gun, and she dropped down, sliding below his aim before he had time to fire a shot and slashing upwards, cutting through the barrel and trigger...and one of the man's fingers.

Oops.

Needless to say, he went down with a startled cry of pain, but before he could get very loud, she lashed out with her other hand, punching him hard in the side of the head and knocking him unconscious.

"What?" She finally asked, turning towards Cassandra.

She blinked a few times, surprised and more than a bit relieved, before finally letting her body relax. "Oh. Uh. Never mind."

In the meantime, the thug she'd been working on had managed to wiggle out of his bonds and pulled a gun on her from behind. Without looking, she kicked backward, knocking the weapon from his hand. She spun around and caught it, and hit him in the back of the neck with the butt of the gun.

Laura was impassive as Cass performed that particular trick, her attention mostly still on the moment before it. Once the danger had passed, her arms crossed.

"You thought I was going to kill him."

Cass busied herself tying up the thug again, mostly so she wouldn't have to look at Laura. This was... awkward.

"Um. Yes," she admitted. There was no point in trying to lie.

Laura wasn't particularly surprised by that, but some small part of her was a little upset by it. She hadn't killed anyone in the City. That Cass still assumed it because of previous versions of herself was a little...frustrating.

"I wasn't going to." She said rather firmly. It was 95% true, at least. If the man had actually managed to shoot her, things would probably have gone different, but he hadn't.

"I just... sorry," she muttered, clearly embarrassed by her reaction. "Should have... trusted you."

Laura was silent for a long handful of breathes, considering the other. When the man on the ground next to her started to stir, she lashed out at his chest with her foot, knocking him back down and into unconsciousness again.

"It's fine," she finally decided, shaking her head. It wasn't but she'd deal. So she turned her attention to her unconscious dealer, rifling through his pockets.
