No matter. He leaned on the bricks, letting the smoke pour from his lips and enjoying the sensation even if he couldn't taste the nicotine.
There was always time to be somebody, anyway.

Katurian was ahead of him on that destined path. He was prepared to interrupt. He set up webs of barbed wire at ankle level, so difficult to see on this cloudy night. Once he was finished, he let himself fall out of the timeline, his form disappearing along with the wire. He would be back at the proper time, the time when Electro reached that river.
The wire would be back, too.

He wandered forward, predictably, watching the vague glimmers of water struck by the lampposts grow nearer. He sneered, almost defiantly heading toward it; he could control his powers much better now. He hadn't been submerged, of course, but if rain was fine there was no harm in crossing a stupid river. Fuck that river. Walking around would take him longer to get home anyway -- why waste time being overly cautious?
"Yeah, fuck you," he said, strutting.

When he back faded in, he didn't waste time.
The barbed wire flickered back into existence when he did, curled around the edge of the bridge like snarled black snakes. They were out of Electro's path for now, but they didn't need to be underfoot just yet. Katurian had a delicate process to follow. A recipe. A script.
When he back faded in, he didn't waste time because the first thing he did was try to stab Electro in the stomach.

"Ghhk."
Though his body was reactive immediately, sparks bouncing off the blade, it had intruded his skin before he could defend himself. The taste of blood filled his mouth and electricity sparked off him in sudden, reflexive currents. His eyes filled with light and the blood dried on his face immediately as he stumbled forward, waving his arms to strike whoever was near him by fist or by current. God, it hurt. He'd never been stabbed, not even in prison.
"Ghh, fuck! What the fuck!" He tried to grab the knife, unable to articulate his thoughts or feelings, staring incredulously forward. "I'll -- shit -- why the--"

The ones he wore today were also heavily insulated.
It still hurt though, that buzz, and he drew back almost immediately. For a moment, he slipped out of time, and the knife that was so neatly buried in Electro's gut flashed out and then back in again. When he reappeared, he was closer, close enough that he was practically on top of the other man.
"Another monster takes his leave."
He kicked at his ankle. The barbed wired was just behind.

He swiped forward, trying to hit the guy, but then suddenly he was right there and Electro fell backwards, eyes wide.
"Sss--shit," he stammered, trying to grab at anything he could reach -- hair, an arm, the guy's shirt. When that failed he let electricity spill down and off his arm, even if he couldn't aim it. Maybe it would strike; lightning always did somewhere. The barbed wire tore up his ankles and then Electro vanished from sight.
The water lit up, sparks and arcs of lightning exploding underneath and along the surface like a firework show. He didn't surface.
