FORMAT: Para to start, then quick
It was inexplicably difficult to begin a walk while knowing your destination is, or was, off-limits. It is even more difficult to reach said destination and not give into the temptation to turn right back around and flee. As such, it took all of Baroona's effort to stand and face the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.
He had been interested in schooling for awhile now-ever since he had gotten back, truth be told. He had scrounged up tutors of various subjects to compensate for his urges and yet...
He had heard school was free here. Required for all children thus meaning anyone could attend. It had been odd to hear, and at first he thought it to be a joke. Cars and planes were hard enough to believe, but free education was unheard of. And yet, after asking and getting answered, he found it to be true. Still, he found it hard to believe.
He would visit the school occasionally. Not often enough, just walk by it perhaps once a month, just to make sure that it was there and that it was real. On rare occasions he found himself wondering whether he should attend and as the months wore on the wondering became a yearning. Now, with all the posts to the network acting as constant reminders, he had decided to act.
But now that he was here, staring at the school, he couldn't bring himself to enter. It was too different and unknown and he was too trapped in the uneducated past. Finally, gathering up his courage, he stepped inside. He was proud of hismelf then and took another. He could do this, he could make it.
But then he reached the statue and his nerves rose up again. He ducked his head under the statue's gaze as if ashamed for daring to walk so far in. It wasn't his place. Hell, it wasn't even his world. He curled his hands into fists. He stuffed them into his pockets. He bit his lip and shook his head and gave in to his own cowardly urges.
He turned around and fixed his gaze on the gates.
