it's only the first day, but she's wearing something nice and just wandering around before finally entering a buffet-style room. she brightens as she sees Zatanna chilling with oh boy an alcoholic beverage in hand.]
I hope the drinks are for everyone, an' not just you magic folk.

She turns around when she hears the voice and jumps a little (drink in a death-grip, however...).] For everyone invited, yeah. Take as much as you want of... whatever you want. [Her voice is a little slower, richer. Someone's had more than one drink...]

even though Sally can sure as hell handle straight up alcohol, she likes pretending she doesn't. she sidles up next to Zee, unfazed by the fact that her friend had started early.]
Don't mind if I do.
[she flashes Zee a smile before taking a long sip. there's a pause.]
How've you been hon? I haven't really got a chance to catch up with you face-to-face in awhile.

Eh, getting better. Everything's easier with time... and with alcohol and friends. [Alcohol before the friends, though.]

[she raises her glass. alcohol always comes first.]

James implied I was a slut. [She takes a swig.] So I punched him. We didn't talk for two weeks. He's here. Expects me to, I don't know, accept whatever half-assed apology he comes up with.

[she pauses, looking down at her drink before taking her own swig....a refined swig, thank-you-very-much.]
Well, if he's making an effort to apologize, it means he does care. Heading up here for a weekend takes a lot of effort than something's that half-assed.
At least, I'd hope so.

He's been weird in general lately, though. And I know that he... means well, but he still said it. And I have to draw the line somewhere.

[she's finished with her drink already and pouring herself something stronger. man, and she hasn't even been at the con for more than 24 hours.
and shush it's always about the girl. always.]
What I'm thinkin', is that James has stronger feelings for you than he wants to admit. Guys are funny like that. They try to act like what we do don't bother them much, but then they go along calling us names and regretting it the moment it slips out, y'know?
[listen to Sally. she totally knows what she's talking about.....]
Just don't let it sit an' stew for too long. You're lucky it's not taking him years to come to his senses to apologize.

[She finishes off the mojito and follows suit (it's after noon, after all).] I never had this problem with John. He was a coward and wouldn't admit to his feeling or anything, but he never got pissed with me. He knew it wasn't his right to, if he didn't uh, well... claim me. [The booze is hitting her finally. A bit of a warm, fuzzy feeling. The kind that comes with misplaced words.] I mean, he was an asshole, but only to the guys I was seeing. Not me. Come to... come to think of it, he started acting like a bigger ass when I told him I was seeing John.
[Sally, you are the best. Just you wait until she's drank a bit more! She'll be all over you...] Yeah, I... I let him come because I've had enough of this shit.

and a drunk voice is an honest voice. she's hung around enough bars with both men she's known, and strangers, to know that much.]
He was jealous hon. Most men start acting like asses when the gal they want is seeing someone else. Your John was just a special case. [just as Hollis was to her, though she never got anywhere with that damn boyscout. but he was the respectable sort, never claiming her as his own like Eddie seemed to have.]
Men don't like it when they see a girl they can't have. It's flatterin' to say the least, but guys don't usually think things through when they have a woman on their mind.
[she runs a thumb over the rim of her glass.]
Just give him the chance to apologize, an' see what goes from there. That's all you can do sometimes, hon.

Yeah. I'll... listen. I just don't know how I feel about all of this.

[she gives her a pointed look.
