"Do you see any you like?"

Sirius was at peace with all the world, and seeing Lyra's wonderment made him feel...well, he imagined that it might be a very pale shade of what a Hogwarts professor might feel, watching a first year experience the school. He hadn't done much to make the place obviously fantastic (just secure and hippogriff-proof), but it made him a proud host anyway.

"Alright, put it here on the yellow cloth. I have designated it 'Lyra's cloth', and all the mirrors on it will go into Lyra's Network."

'Lyra's cloth' is a big gold shawl laid out on a part of his workbench that Sirius had cleared of clutter before her arrival. He comes over and has a look at her choice.

"How many do you want, all together? Even if you haven't decided on six friends, I can make the full number and you can give the extras out as you like."

"I can," Sirius explains as he watches Lyra make her selections. "It took a bit of work to sort out... James and I figure out two-way mirrors when we were about your age, so that we could still talk of only one of us had detention. I had a few of them when I was here before, but then all this business with the comms not being secure gave me the idea to link more of them up."

When she's picked her seven, Sirius picks out the first one, the one she'd chosen for herself. "You might find this boring, but would you like to see how it's done?"
