Very rarely were things as quiet in the house as they were when Shockwave had gotten home. And the last thing he'd expected to find was a crying female. He'd completely adjusted to having Giselle around, but she was so often extremely cheery and musical that he had only seen her sad a couple times. It was not exactly the most common thing to happen around the house at least.

To be honest he wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to do. Obviously he needed to make certain she was alright, that she would be alright... But he'd never been very good at fixing things like this.

Still he had to try, so he found himself lightly knocking on Giselle's room door, poking his head inside.

"Giselle... are you alright?"

The knocking was drowned out by her sniffling, but the voice was unmistakable. Giselle lifted her head, wiping the corner of her eye with her knuckles, but the sight of a friend - a wonderful, wonderful friend - just seemed to make her eyes well up anew.

"O-oh, Shockwave," she managed, sitting up, trying to make herself more presentable. "I'm, I'm sorry, it's so late, isn't it? I..." Oh, her train of thought vanished like the pop of a bubble, and she stared at him for a few lengthy seconds before reanimating.

"W-welcome back!" she tried, squeaking near the end. "You were missed."

There's a shake of Shockwave's head as he steped into the room. There isn't anything for Giselle to be sorry for, nor is there reason for her to try and act cheery when she so clearly isn't.

"What happened?"

And how could he fix it?

She took to scrubbing her eyes with the heel of her hand, sniffling loud and often to stay the rest of her tears just waiting to rush out. It seemed futile, but eventually she managed to get herself together, dropping her hand into her lap and curling her fingers around her wrist.

"Oh, just," she sniffed, "just the worst thing. I don't...I'd never been so scared before, it was awful. Just..." She had to pause, swallow, and blink repeatedly. When she looked up, it was a look of childish bewilderment and hurt. She truly didn't understand.

"How can there be such...such evil things?"
