SUMMARY: Raven goes to check out the institute, finally, and meets with Hank. But she'll wander around some too, if anyone wants to run into her.

[Scathach was just on her way out of the dojo for the afternoon when she caught a familiar scent. It was the first time she had noticed it at the Institute, and she figured that it was about time it was there. Smiling, Scatty gave the air another sniff and headed towards where the scent was more fresh. After a few minutes of searching she saw a familiar head of blonde hair and smiled, trotting up behind her.]

Raven.

[After her meeting with Hank, Raven had decided to look around the institute on her own some, just...to see the things people generally didn't show on tours, and get a feel for it by herself. She was peering into one of the classrooms when Scatty appeared, and she turned to smile at her. She remembered Scatty had mentioned something about the institute, but she hadn't thought the other would be here.]

Hey Scatty. I didn't know you were here today.

[spadassin]

[The redhead dismissively gestured in the general direction from which she had come.]

I was in the dojo. Sometimes I like not having to worry about paying for repairs.

[Raven didn't remember Hank mentioning a Dojo, but it was possible he had just forgotten, or he had called it something else.]

I didn't see it. Why would it be free though? Because you work here?

[Scathach nodded, running a hand through her cropped hair. She wasn't sweaty, or even winded, but it had been quite a workout.]

Yes. I teach combat, so I can use it pretty much any time.

Combat. Sounds...intense. [Raven smiled faintly.] All I really know about fighting is the little bit I learned just before I was brought here.

I'm not sure I'm actually any good at it.

[spadassin]

[The redhead smiled, and clapped Raven on the shoulder. Gently, of course. She didn't want to break the poor girl's arm on her first day.]

Anyone can fight, if they have the right trainer.

Raven winced faintly at the clap, mostly because she wasn't expecting it, but she relaxes after a moment and shrugs. "I never...really needed to know how, before. I've never been in a fight in my life, honestly."

"And I bet that isn't true. Lots of people can't learn to fight."

[Scathach shook her head, eyeing Raven up and down. She looked fit enough, considering the time she'd come from. At least she wasn't emaciated like many of the women in this day and age.]

Then let me rephrase: Anyone can fight with enough determination. And it's useful to know how, even if you don't think you'll ever need to.

Raven felt sort of like she was being tested when Scathach looked her over like that. It was a rather strange experience, really.

"Maybe. I didn't have any reason to learn before, until the things started happening back home. And here...it might be a good idea, I guess. Do you teach the students here, or other people too?
