Kanaya was in the middle of watering her plant when she heard the knock. Crossing the room, she opened the door. "Hello, yes?"

Even though they hadn't seen each other yet since her arrival, it didn't take much to recognize her guest. "Oh, Terezi," she started, "would you like to come in?"

Terezi took a deep breath, curious about whether Kanaya would smell as different as she had suggested she might when they had spoken earlier. She was somewhat surprised to find that she did.

"Yeah. You smell really strange, Kanaya!"

Strange compared to what Terezi was used to smelling from her, anyway.

"Well, I would imagine certain changes would be likely to cause that, particularly the human form."

She led Terezi to the living room, bright from the sunlight coming in through the windows, and offered her a spot on the couch. "Can I get you anything?"

"Heheh, that must be it!"

Terezi sat on the spot indicated and scanned the room, intrigued by the brightness that even she could parse. It was pretty weird, adjusting to being able to stand sunlight.

"No thanks. I actually came over to ask you some questions! I'm conducting an official investigation."

Sure, it was only official because she had decided that it was legislacerator business, but that was pretty much all that mattered.
