Erik felt the brush of Charles' mind against his own before he saw the other mutant, and a wave of relief swept over him. It was one thing to communicate with Charles through the strange device that he had found himself in the possession of. It was another matter entirely to actually see his friend in person, to be reassured that they really had somehow been brought to the same place and time.

"Charles..." He made his way to his friend's side, his mind whirling with questions. He spoke the one that seemed most prominent. "How long have you been here?" he asked, finding himself hoping that Charles had not been alone in this city for long.

"Just, oh, just under two days," Charles answered then, laughing upon sight of Erik -- just elated to see him here. He didn't want to admit to the man that he was just sure he'd never see him again -- and that he was terrified that if he did, he would not be the Erik he knew. There were so many questions, and so much information. He touched his head for a moment with a hiss as it all flooded back to him; each of his conversations, both about himself and about Erik. "But it feels like longer... ah,

I could even say that the things I've learned have served to age me very well. But I am glad you are safe, my friend." he smiled up at Erik earnestly, reaching out to touch his upper arm -- patting him in a way to confirm that he was really real, something he'd had a feeling even Raven had needed to confirm earlier. "There is almost... almost too much, that I feel I need to tell you. This place, these people... first. First... what do you last remember, Erik?"

Erik could not help but be comforted by the pat on his arm, reassured that this was not some illusion. He was slightly less disoriented than he had been upon sending out his first transmission on his communicator, but he was still adjusting to his new location.

"I am glad to see you here. Glad that you know something about what is going on," he confided in the telepath. He did not need to think about Charles' question, as it was all still quite clear in his mind. "We were on the plane to Cuba. We were minutes away when I found myself here." There was a twinge of bitterness in his voice, frustration over being denied his confrontation with Shaw.

Charles certainly heard it, but he dismissed it for the time being. He watched Erik for a long moment before he spoke. "We are here to be heroes. That is what they say. There are plenty of mutants here... that I have met so far. Everyone who was.. was not a mutant was given mutant-like capabilities upon being imported here. That is what I have heard." he seemed to be thinking even further.

"We all came here from different... timelines. Different realities, versions of ourselves, even. Or versions of the people we knew. Hank is here, for example, but he isn't our Hank." he tried to explain, though he was sure it would all sound much too disjointed. He frowned even more deeply as he recognized that. "Erik. I have been most worried about the things they have said about you."

Erik seemed thoughtful. Being a hero certainly seemed appropriate for Charles, given how optimistic the other man was when it came to using their powers for the good of the world. Erik had never really considered himself much of a hero, though he supposed it was not entirely unreasonable that someone else could see him in such a way.

"What do you mean by that? How is he different?" The more recently arrived of the pair was still quite unsure of what was meant by other versions of people. His eyebrows furrowed at the rest of Charles' words. "And what sorts of things have they been saying?"
