Did she count as a pretty female face? She hoped not. With great tentativeness, she approached the bar, not noticing Julian at first. She felt like an alcoholic, though the beach party incident was decidedly not her fault.

She slid up on the bar after a few tries, staring up at the chalkboard and trying to work up the courage to order. What happened to the rules? No drinking? Soon she'd be cutting her hair and driving a car... Oh, the humanity. If Peter only knew.

Glancing nervously to her left as the bartender heads her way, she finally noted the familiar face. She really seemed to run into this guy everywhere. She wondered how long she could get away with pretending not to see him.

Well, Buffy's definitely a pretty female face. She's not one Julian would be trying his charms on though, mostly because of Dawn. He's not sure the knowledge of that would make her feel any better about it at all.

It takes him a minute to notice her. He's mainly paying attention to his drink at this stage, and glancing up at other people only occasionally. He does look up when he feels her eyes on him, though by the time he spots her she's not looking anymore.

For a minute, he considers just not saying anything, but hey. It's Buffy, and it looks like she's joining the underage drinkers' society, so what the hell. He slides off his stool and goes to lean on the bar beside her.

"Small City, this. Every corner I turn these days, I see you."

Slowly, she turned to him, nodding. "Seems like it." And then a lighter tone. "You're not stalking me, are you?" But inside it's a completely serious question.

"Stalking you?" The thought of that just made him grin. As if he'd be damned quiet enough to stalk anyone. He was way too obvious. And besides. She was the one following him. "No, though it's kinda starting to feel like it. Not that I'm complaining. Are you stalking me?"

For him it's pretty much entirely joking.

She can tell, and she rolls her eyes in a way she hopes comes off as amicable.

"No stalker vibes here. Just wanted...a drink. Which I am totally old enough for."

His face relaxes into a far easier smile. So she's playing the same game as him, huh? Good.

"Sure you are," he agrees with a nod. "So am I. What's your drink, Buffy?" He signals to the bartender while saying this.

That translates as cocktails to him, so he orders one of those daiquiri things for her. Girls generally like those, right?

"Nothing really worth noting." She shrugs, glancing up at the order. "Thanks, for the drink. I'll get you back."

"Sure." He shrugs. His drink is usually beer anyway, so he just holds the bottle. "Hey, how'd it go at the dojo earlier? You get the training you were after?"

"Uh, yeah..." She hadn't really intended to knock Laura out but WELP. "It was a very enlightening experience. That's what you're supposed to say, right?"

That makes Julian grin. Mostly because he doesn’t know about the Laura detail. Laura being knocked out has a tendency to freak him out a little, both because it takes a hell of a lot to knock her out, and because…well, it’s Laura.

“Sure, if you’re doing the Zen Master thing,” he said. “Is that what you’re into?”

"I guess. Since I can't get with so much of the slaying here." She nodded her thanks to the bartender and drew her drink closer, fingers pinching the straw as she took a slow sip. Was she becoming an alcoholic? How would she even know the signs? "I found a few people to spar with though."

Julian nodded. Training is never anything on a real fight, but he still missed it anyway.

“Guess that’d be better than solo training when you’re used to demons and Hellmouths,” he said with a shrug. “Seemed a good place to me. Are you gonna go back?”

He took a long drink from the bottle in his hand and raised an eyebrow. "I thought you'd have liked the whole sparring part of that. Prefer training alone?"
