[Toph is often in the Park at all times, day and night. That's how she rolls, since she doesn't go to school or anything. And it's summer besides.

And bonus! Some lady is handing out brownies. This is a good day. She waits her turn, then steps up to get one.

Her hands might be dirty though. With dirt. Since, you know. Earthbender. In fact, most of her has some kind of dirt on her.]

You're giving out brownies?

Um, yes. Would you like a sample?

[She's not thoroughly impressed with Toph's hygiene, but interested people are interested people!]

[God help her, Toph really does look like a hobo teenager. Her clothes today, however, aren't torn or anything. They just look like she's been rolling in the dirt. Which isn't that far from the truth.

Hearing the note of trepidation in Shirley's voice, it takes the girl a moment to remember that she's pretty much covered in Earth and that most people around here hate that. Toph steps back and makes a downward brushing motion with her hands, 'bending most of the dirt off herself and onto the ground, then approaches again with a smile, showing her faded green eyes behind shaggy black bangs. She'd nab her own brownie, but with the vibration displacement her vision's a little blurry by the time it gets to the tray and her aim would probably be off.]

I'd love one, thanks!

[Shirley takes a sample slice, placing it inside a napkin before handing it off to Toph. She wouldn't want to get the brownie dirty as well.]

[Omnomnom that brownie vanishes in record time. Because teenager.]

That was awesome. Where'd you get them?

Oh, well, you can purchase them at the Pie Hole! I can give you directions, if you want.

[She still hasn't realised that Toph is blind, after all.]

Yeah, that'd be great!

[Fishes out her comm and finds the button to open a note thing, then holds it out to her; she can have the comm translate it into voice, after all.]

Could you put it in here?

Oh, do you have one of those too?

[She fishes out her communicator from her apron pocket and shows it to Toph.]

Did you get brought here as well?

Yeah, I'm an Import, too.

[Nods, figuring that the lady is holding out a comm. Hard to tell sometimes. And then she gets serious, and a little sad.]

Been here for more than two years now.

Oh dear! That's an awfully long time for such a young girl.

[She'll just shrug. It ain't no thang to her, at least these days.]

You get used to it. Me and Lyra, we do okay.

How old is Lyra?

Fourteen, same as me. She got here before I did, but we've been managing just fine for two years and some.

[Note that she makes no mention of adult supervision. Because they don't have it and don't want it, aw yeah.]

[She hands it over another slice of delicious brownie to Toph with care.]

[She'll accept it and wrap that one in its napkin, then put it in a pocket. It'll be for Lyra, later.]
