At eight thirty on the dot, because he's not going to play the "just late enough to be fashionable" game with Carrie and his own home, Tim shows up at the Tower. And... walks into a surprise party, although he was really kind of guessing that this would happen. He wasn't trained by the World's Greatest Detective for nothing.

He does kind of wonder about the Star Trek, though.

Anyway! Birthday boy is in the building and trying to decide if he should grab some cake yet. JUST RIGHT FOR AMBUSHING.

Welp, where there be a Tim ripe for ambushing there shall never be a Dick far behind. Personal space be damned, Tim is getting a hug today. Or possibly something more resembling a sneak-attack wrap-around from behind.

"So you say it's your birthday..."

He should really be used to this kind of thing from Dick by now, but he still spends a moment attempting to flail before he realises who it is that just hugged him from behind and relaxes. He should have known from the fact Dick managed to sneak up on him in the first place.

"Something like that." Dick will just have to hear the smile in his voice.

As long as Tim's willing to tolerate the attention he'll indulge an extra long squeeze before he lets him go. It's not as if the opportunity comes along all the often anymore.

"You know, you could have said something." Not that there was a chance he would have forgotten, but there's a sneaking suspicion that says Tim might have.

Oh fine, if he has to, he'll tolerate it. Once Dick lets go, he steps away and turns around to face him so they can have an actual conversation, but stays companionably close. He does this for you, Dick.

"I guess I sort of... forgot, until I looked at the date. It's a little weird here, too, with jumping along the timeline and everything - is it really my birthday if I'm not a year older because of that?" Oh god time travel.

"Sure. Just with all the benefits and none of the tradeoffs. Speaking of which-" And he has to rummage a little through the pile of gifts on the table before he finds the one he's looking for.

"-For you, Tim."

"You didn't have to... I didn't even give you any notice." But that's him assuming that everyone else is going to be forgetful about his birthday as he is, and he really shouldn't make that kind of assumption about Dick, after all - he's the best big brother anyone could ask for. He smiles and takes the gift, turning it over in his hands.

"Thanks, Dick."

At some point, probably after Dick has relinquished his hold, there'll be a small redheaded version of the same ambush, this time in the form of wiggling up under one arm to wrap her arms around him.

"Happy birthday. Kory's gone, Tower's been quiet, you missed some soul-sucking." There, all caught up.

THIS IS MY ONLY ROBINS HUGGING ICON...? 123youreit June 21 2011, 14:00:56 UTC
Since it's his birthday, he's allowed to wrap an arm around her shoulders and hug back after a moment. Well he better be, anyway, since he is doing just that.

"Thanks. I'm surprised anywhere Bart is living could be called quiet." Because joking about stuff makes it better, of course. He's going to miss Starfire and her fabulous hair.

Now that she's thinking about it, there's possibly one more disappearance she should mention. And, yeah, Jason wasn't telling the other Bats that he was back, but she has trouble believing Tim wouldn't know anyway. Tim's Tim. So, after a second, she adds quietly, "Jason's out, too."

A tighter squeeze accompanies that, and then she's stepping away with a smile like nothing happened. "I'm calling it quiet 'cuz Bart didn't break much, but it's a real relative word."

Tim has his ways of keeping track of Jason's movements. ... They're called "the cameras Jason hasn't destroyed", but, you know, that just doesn't sound as mysterious.

His expression sobers, but he reaches out to pat her shoulder, gently. "He has a way of turning back up. I think the Porter likes him." And then more loudly, "Do I want to know what he broke?"

"Nothing I didn't find a way to fix." It's casual and calm, as always, and she glosses right over the topic of Jason. She's reported the news, there's no need to expand on it. No need to think about getting her hopes up.

She threads an arm through Tim's, tugging him snacks-wards. "And I got three more games. Graphics aren't great--" According to her 2030s sensibilities, anyway. "--But they're not awful overall."

It's funny how Jason is that subject they just don't talk about unless it's necessary, for different reasons. Well, no, it's not funny at all, but moving on.

"Oh?" Tim lets himself be tugged, he wanted to investigate the snacks anyway. "I guess I'll just have to learn how to beat you on them as well."

"No chance, spud. I been practicing. Got these ones down." And, because she's a nice person (sometimes), she'll release him near the snacks and let him pick his own direction. She's making a beeline for the chips.

"I'll have to make up for lost time. And then kick your ass." Oh hmm chips... nope, Tim is checking out the other snacks. Party food is not going to fit with his fussy, body-conscious diet, though. He eventually settles on nibbling some cheese and pineapple (every party has those, EVERY. PARTY.).

[ And Bart is just ... slowly creeping up behind him. A party blower in hand.

It would be the perfect plan if not for his inability to conceal the stomping of his huge feet. ]
