Of course she was completely oblivious to the fact that John didn't really know his way around, either. She was too distracted by the buildings, which she stared up at, eyes wide and mouth agape.

"Yes! Oh my gosh, they are so tall!"

Tall enough to make her feel dizzy, in fact! And really, she should have been watching where she was going, but John was certainly kind enough to make sure she didn't run into anything. Sure, she had seen skyscrapers in movies and on TV shows, but being next to them, feeling so tiny... It was kind of the coolest thing ever.

"Are the buildings in your city this big, too?"

Poor Jade was pretty sheltered to almost everything about normal life. It would certainly be an adventure living with her.

"It must be pretty exciting, living in cities like that!" She replied, finally tearing her eyes away from the glittering buildings to grin at John. "Did you like living where you did?"

Jade frowned, slowing down as she watched him. "I guess so?" That seemed like a strange response. She had never gotten the impression that he was unhappy with his life, and he had never really complained to her. "Do you like this place better?" In some ways, Jade did. There were tons of people to talk to and meet, and she was never alone. It was nice, and refreshing in a way.

But really, her island was so isolated that she was pretty sure everyone would prefer a city to it. John, on the other hand, had gotten the opportunity to go to school with other kids, and to be honest Jade envied that a bit.
