Bits and pieces of memory were returning to Alastair every day, most of the time triggered by seeing or hearing something familiar to his older self. But one thing that didn't was the entirety of his actual combat against Kaiba and the aftermath. He remembered what his goal had been, what his master had trained him to do, and he remembered much of his time in the City, continually engaged in a strange game of respect with likewise-elder Seto Kaiba. In between, it was all missing, so he didn't really know why he was so eager to get on Kaiba's good side when his childhood memories told him that if this kid really was related to Gozaburo Kaiba, they were enemies. He didn't feel like enemies. Especially not if he was letting people get into an amusement park for free ( ... )

Seto had been on sensory overload when he first arrived at KaibaLand. It was literally a dream come true. There were Duel Monsters everywhere, everyone was having fun and even better it was his so he and Mokuba didn't have to stand in lines. For today he wasn't worrying about why it was happening, he was just enjoying the fact that it was.

He'd already been there for awhile. He had been scoping it out before the park had even opened. He'd gone on a few rides, lamented that he wasn't big enough for the Dwheels yet (note to self, make a smaller version) and spent more than a few hours playing with the dueling fields and watching his dragons come to life. He could still not get over that, and would probably be back there later in the day. For now though, he was in the open area on the ground floor examining one of the animatronic monsters. The Battle Ox to be exact. He was looking at it from behind the divider for now, he didn't want to get in another argument that yes he was allowed on the other side of it.

Fortunately Alastair was watching where he was going, even with all the pausing to gawk, so he didn't quite run into Seto. But he did stop short upon recognizing the brown-haired kid. He wasn't angry anymore but he didn't know how to approach or greet Seto in the light of their scrapping on the playground. He just stuffed his hands into the pockets of his loose jeans (Bakura's, cinched tightly with a belt) and slinked up, not saying anything so he wouldn't make the mistake of speaking Croatian again but definitely interrupting.

There were people walking around everywhere, so Seto didn't take notice of anyone coming close until they didn't go away. He stood back from the Battle Ox to face Alastair. He wasn't still angry at him, but that didn't stop him from puffing up. Being lax in front of a bigger kid was a sure way to get in trouble.

"What?" he asked, folding his arms over his chest.

"Nothing," Alastair replied in the same language. Ahh, yes, better to wait after all. He shrugged a bit. "Just. Hi. Is this place really all yours?"

"Yeah it is," Seto said smugly. "My design too." At least according to the records he'd found in the computer upstairs.

"Wow..." Alastair really didn't know what else to say besides that. "So when you grow up...you make fun parks with Duel Monsters." He chanced a tiny smile. "That's going to be a fun job."

His stance relaxed at the other's obvious praise. It was all pretty cool.

He nodded. "I have everything I want. I can even see the whole park from my office." He pointed up to a window at the top of the building. The Blue Eyes roller coaster almost reached that high but nothing else.

"Really? Wow." Alastair looked up, mouth slightly agape. "But that means you work in an office all day. That's not fun. You have to have some fun, right?"

Seto deflated at the question. "Yeah I would rather be with the engineers," he said a bit wistfully. "But I'm in control. No one can tell me what to do or how to take care of Mokuba."

Alastair nodded. He knew exactly how that felt. "That's the way it should be," he agreed. "A guy's gotta take care of his little brothers that way. I even came here so I could watch out for Ryou."

"Is he really your brother?" Seto asked. There was something nagging him when he was around them. It was probably just the same nagging feeling he had around anything he was supposed to know. Plus the fact that the two really didn't look anything alike.

"He's...well, adopted, I guess," Alastair admitted with a little shrug. "We're not related by blood, but...that doesn't matter." He scratched his cheek while he racked his brain to piece together the bits of memory that still worked. "We chose to be brothers because we wanted to. Even though it helps us look out for each other, too."
