To say that Tom wasn't taking Selina's disappearance well was an understatement. It wasn't as bad as when he lost his mother or anything, and he knew that she'd probably be happier back home than she had been here lately, but really, that didn't make him feel any better. Selina had been his only link to back home really. She knew his dad well, so he could talk to her about stuff. She was the only one, really. The Justice League had more important things to deal with than a stray JSA member ( ... )

Gar had found that transforming into animals at will was kind of like riding a bike. You don't forget. A month without his powers meant that he felt wobbly, at first, and that he needed to train himself back into the kind of activity it required, but... God, he could move again.

These joyous relations and frolicking about was interrupted by the sounds of somebody else entering the warehouse. Gar didn't make it a point to hide, but he didn't come right out of the foliage. He'd rather make sure he knew who he was keeping company before he said hi, and...

Wildcat, right? Ted Grant's kid, who would try to help if Gar ever needed anything. So nothing to worry about.

A green leopard simply popped from behind some plants, taking a few smooth steps before parking it on the warehouse floor. "Just me. Good ol' Gar Logan."

It really wasn't like him to be defensive, but he'd been coming here the past few days, and he hadn't seen anybody else come by. It wasn't his place to protect, and it would make sense that other people knew about it, but... This was Selina's place, Ramus lived here, and he wouldn't let anything happen to that leopard or to the warehouse. They had to be here for when Catwoman came back.

He didn't recognize the scent, and he didn't remember the voice clearly, but the sight was unmistakable. Green talking leopard... Gar Logan. "Beast Boy, right?"

He immediately relaxed his stance, rubbing the back of his neck. "What are you doing here, man?" He's mostly curious, and kind of feeling like an ass for being ready to attack an ally.

"Right." Gar nodded to confirm even further that, yes, he was Beast Boy. It wasn't another moment before he shifted, up onto his feet and back into a human. Still green. Awesome.

"I, uh... I guess me and the cat go back a while. I've been really lame about visiting and everything, but hey. Looks like the guy's not hurting for company, huh?"

Tom was always kind of interested seeing other shape-shifters like himself here, especially since back home at the JSA he was kind of the only one. Gar's transformation seemed much smoother... and he got to keep his clothes. Lucky jerk... He doesn't know how he feels about the green though.

"I've been over here whenever I can, ever since Selina disappeared. I haven't actually known about this place very long, so I'm sure Ramus appreciates having a familiar face around." He shrugs a little. "Do you want a drink or something?"

Gar didn't have a comment for Selina porting out. This kind of this was always weird. Some people came and went multiple times and then finally... Just went. It had happened before. Even if Selina and Jaime had been here longer than anybody else he'd heard of, there was always still the possibility that they wouldn't be around tomorrow.

But hey. Life.

He shrugged at the offer in return, cracking a smile. That was an easy enough decision. "Sure. Why not?"

Cue something of an instant sense of camaraderie. It was something he hadn't felt in a little while.

Gar might have been used to this kind of thing by now, but Tom hadn't been here that long yet, and while he knew that people came and went here, this was the first time that it had really affected him, and Tom wasn't the type to take loss well... Which meant that it was a good thing that Gar was here. At least he wouldn't drink himself too far under the table with someone else around.

"C'mon, I have some beers upstairs in the office." He turned and led the way, then, as an afterthought. "Hey, you're green again."

"Cool." He shrugged and smiled easily and made to follow Tom to said office, pausing at the mention of his coloring. He looked down at himself for some reason, as if he hadn't noticed. "Yeah, I guess everything dredged itself back up. Kinda relieved, tell ya the truth."

He didn't really know what else to say about it. He didn't know what other points of conversation to bring up either, really, when they got to the office and he found somewhere to park it for a second. Striking up conversation was always a bit awkward when you didn't know who you were talking to. There were things that everybody could relate to, though.

"So. How long you been here?"

"Not going to lie, it was pretty strange. What made you lose your powers anyway?" It was weird to think that they could just turn off or disappear like that here, and, as much as he claimed that they didn't matter or that he didn't need them, he was used to having his powers and didn't want to lose them if he could help it.

Once they'd made it up to the office, Tom walked over to the fridge, pulling out two beers and handing one to Gar. "I've been around for almost three months now. I'm finally getting used to the whole alternate universe new life thing." He takes a sip of his beer.

"How about you?"

a billion apologies WHAT IS MAH WEEK... of_animalia April 29 2011, 14:46:24 UTC
Gar could only shrug when it came to what exactly made him lose his powers. The impulsive answer would just be 'the machine did it,' but how exactly the 'Porter-machine-lady-whatever did anything was way beyond his ability to understand.

So he counted, instead. When had he even gotten here? What had even happened since then?

A lot, huh? Damn.

"Uh. Two years in July, I think."
