Czeslaw had spent a bit of time in the local library recently, searching for information on modern alchemy. He wasn't terribly surprised that it was considered a laughable science in the current day and age--hadn't it sort of been that way in the thirties, too?--but he was disappointed at the lack of literature and materials available to him on the subject.
Still, after some probing (in and out of the library) he found himself with a somewhat disappointing (though still serviceable) children's chemistry set.
He was taking up a small corner of the table with it, reading the booklet that came with it and familiarizing himself with the chemicals inside.
