"Well you wouldn't really know that we're all here, seeing as Vision or Jonas, or whatever he's calling himself isn't speaking to some of us." She didn't sound upset by it, just tired. She set her brush down on the bed and pulled her hair back in a low pony tail.

"Well then, in theory we're all here," she amended, deciding to be diplomatic. "It's good to have you guys around. But knowing our folks are freaking out back home is kind of disturbing." She could hardly imagine her father--he must have images of her across half the billboards of New York. And her sister. The thought made her grimace.

"I don't even wanna think about what my mother is doing. Those the ass she's married to is probably throwing some kind of party." She shook her head as she pulled over the teddy bear Tommy had gotten for her for Christmas.

"Have you spoken to Eli much sense he got here?"

Well, Kate thought, Blake could go fuck himself. She didn't say it out loud, though, knowing it was a sensitive topic with her friend. Eli, on the other hand, was a whole other can of worms and while she didn't particularly want to go there, it was a safer subject.

"I don't even know, Eli--" she paused, gathering herself, "his schedule and mine don't match up, so we haven't really talked. Sometimes it's like he isn't even really here." She lifted her hand an delicately rubbed her forehead, where a slight itch had begun to bother her. "I don't even know if I want to."

"I can't really blame you for not wanting to talk to him, I'm terrified he's going to lecture me into a coma or something." She shook her head and played with the little bears arm. "Think anyone told him that I joined up with the Titans?"

Kate suppressed a snicker, but it came out anyways. "A coma--yeah, that sounds about right. If he hasn't figured it out by the fact you don't really train with us anymore, I guess one of us will have to break it to him."

She turned to Cassie, smiling a bit. "How's that going, by the way? Superboy and Robin still treating you right?"

"I believe that would fall to your shoulders, as the best friend of course." She gave Kate a smile and then bit into her bottom lip. "As long as it's not Tommy who tells him. I don't even wanna think about how that would go." She played with a piece of her hair and then sighed.

"It's fine, and I highly doubt Superboy or Robin could treat someone badly if they tried. They were born to be great guys Kate."

"That's right, stick me with your dirty work. Thanks so much," she halfheartedly complained. "Try not to leave Eli and Tommy in the same room for too long." The consequences generally wound up unpleasant for everyone, involved or not.

"They do seem really nice, though I haven't really spent time with either of them," she admitted. The thought that Cassie was getting along better with the Titans annoyed her, but the fact was that the YA were still too shaky to provide any kind of structure. Kate resolved to rectify that in the very near future. "Do they make you work hard, at least?"

"Yeah that is definitely something I don't want to do. I'm still weary about mentioning to him that the two of us are dating. Eli could handle it about a hundred different ways." She gave a smile to Kate and looked down at her bed.

"No one could work a group like you or Eli. But I get in a work out. It's not like I'm out of shape though. Working at the Pie Hole keeps me pretty fit."

Kate leaned over and reached between the beds until her finger touched Cassie's knee lightly. "Whatever, he'll deal with it. Eli's not the type to go sticking himself into other people's private lives." Was it so awfully wrong of her to think he'd be relieved that Tommy was out of his way? "How is, uh--" god, this was so awkward to ask-- "how are things with Tommy going?" Kate's expression was vague, but gentle. "Does he make you happy?"

Cassie had to laugh at how hard Kate was trying to make this all sound gentle and caring, and not the awkward conversation that it was turning into. She smiled at Kate and took her hand in hers.

"Tommy's great. I don't think I've been this happy since, well. Since the guys let us join the Young Avengers."
