Is so late to the party :( ofthedream March 21 2011, 20:43:06 UTC
Although Ysera respected Kaiba's request for her to stay out of his own dreams, that didn't mean she could just shut off sensing his dreams. Or that she didn't give him and his Blue Eyes White Dragon an open invite to visit her in her own adjacent dream. Sometimes they took her up on it, sometimes not ( ... )

The tour of KaibaLand naturally included the food stands. He may not have had time to make a security card for Mokuba, but an employee tab card for anything in KaibaLand had only taken a moment. It would work until all of the employees learned to recognize Mokuba instantly and know to just charge it as such. That was why, Kaiba didn't need to actually follow Mokuba around to each of the stands. He wasn't hungry at all, and it was a good chance to make Mokuba practice his English some more ( ... )

We've saved you some party! the_other_kaiba March 21 2011, 23:16:28 UTC
He had indeed made a decision. He'd gotten some of everything; or at least everything he could carry. Niisama could share! He had a hamburger, and a corndog, and french fries, and onion rings, and fried dough that came with something called "maple butter." It was sweet, which meant it was good.

Holding the packages of food gleefully, he started to trot over to his brother when his attention was grabbed by a lady with green hair. He veered in her direction, staring openly.

"That costume is great!"

It wasn't long before Ysera spotted Kaiba, just in time for him to glance back her way and see her in return. She smiled and inclined her head respectfully, despite his eye rolling. His skepticism was still amusing, and she wouldn't let it deter her either.

She didn't see the boy from the comms with Kaiba, and was about to approach him to ask, when she was stopped by hearing the voice of the same boy she'd been looking for. Looking down through closed eyes, she smiled warmly at the boy, her long ears twitching with amusement. Most City-dwellers were so used to imports that they didn't consider her to be wearing a costume anymore; except here in KaibaLand.

"I thank you for the compliment, though it is not a costume, young one."

The ears even twitched! He gave her a friendly wink. "Good staying in character."

Ysera laughed softly and shook her head gently. "Actually, I am not one of Seto Kaiba's employees. Though I find myself mistaken for one every time I come here to visit."

She inclined her head more formally toward the boy. "I am Ysera. I am an 'import', like you."

Kaiba watched as Mokuba's attention was suddenly grabbed. Dammit. She couldn't leave it at interfering with him, now she was interfering with his brother. Ysera may be interesting, but after the being trapped in a dream with half the city, she was in the threat column enough to not want Mokuba to talk to her alone.

He stalked over to the two of them, and stopped a few paces behind Mokuba. He wasn't going to interfere if it was a regular conversation, but the second something he didn't like happened, he would be close enough to intervene.

This fact was mulled over carefully. "So you have a superpower?" Yes. This was the most important and relevant question he could come up with.

Ysera tilted her head slightly in consideration. "Well, I wouldn't call it that, precisely. I still do not entirely understand the concept of beings with special abilities needing to wear capes and call themselves 'super'... But yes, I do have powers most beings do not, though they were not granted by the porter machine. They are part of what I am."

Attempts to parse this out don't work too well for the 11 year old with English as his second language. So he opts for offering her onion rings.

"What can you do?"

Ysera might have blinked in surprise at the offer of onion rings if she had had her eyes open. As it is, she hesitates before graciously accepting an onion ring - it was a gift, after all - despite the fact that her eyes had been closed the entire conversation.

"Thank you. I can transform back into my true form, and I see and have power over dreams."

And then she contemplates the onion ring through her closed eyes. She's never had one before, though she knows what it is. Her ears twitch as she nibbles a little at it, curious.

"Transform? Like a giant robot or something?" Mokuba is a boy from Japan. Of course this is his first thought.

The onion ring wasn't bad. A little greasy, though. And she didn't think it had been cooked in any sort of animal fat.

Ysera chuckled and shook her head. "No, not a robot. I am a dragon, child."

Kaiba watched the exchange with wary amusement. Only Mokuba would offer an food court food to a dragon, though he hadn't known that until she said it. He was wary because he'd seen how large her other form was, and was positive that Mokuba was going to ask to see.

"This isn't a place for demonstrations," he interjected, finally joining the conversation.

"A dragon?" This is the best possibility.

He quickly checked his enthusiasm, because his brother's voice reminded him not to be too credulous. "Of course you're a dragon. This is KaibaLand, which is all about dragons. Because dragons are awesome."

It was somewhat garbled because of English and onion rings, but quite understandable.

Ysera nodded to Kaiba as he joined the conversation. She'd been well aware of him looming in the background as she spoke to his little brother. "I agree. I am far too large for most indoors, Seto Kaiba."

She turned back to the boy. "I would not mind showing you later, though. Somewhere more accommodating to my true form."

Seeing as how the boy hadn't actually introduced himself yet, she was hoping Kaiba would make introductions.
