Rachel knew it probably wasn’t the best decision. But when chaos started to break out, she threw caution out the window and went, well, hunting. She was angry. She was depressed. She was determined to fight so hard she’d fall asleep without dreaming of dead friends, missing lovers, and lost family. Exhaust herself so that the sounds of her empty apartment wouldn’t keep her up, mind spinning and body tossing and turning.
She could have moved back onto the school, but she’d worked hard for her freedom and she didn’t want to give it up, even with the bitter loneliness. She should probably be back in therapy. She hadn’t felt this lost and hopeless since the massacre and while she held it together fine at school... she knew she wasn’t.
But when her fist connected with the looter and he went down hard, it all receded. She felt alive, on fire, functional again. Placing a small beacon on the sleeping man’s chest - it wasn’t the first she’d be sending the police after - she headed out of the shop. She supposed she could use her powers to find another, God only knew that the anger and the chaos was pressing at her mind from all sides, but she didn’t want to get overwhelmed. And since she wasn’t using her powers in her fights, she wouldn’t use them to find her fights.
Turning a corner, Rachel adjusted the gloves she wore and headed into an alley to cut over to the next street.
