It had taken Josh more than 72 hours to go see her. When he found out what happened to her he'd been frustrated and angry that she would do something like that. Josh knew she was going to do it, knew that there might have been a risk of something happening, but he hadn't really expected her to die.

And he didn't want to show up too angry at her, she had just died after all, so she'd gone through some bad stuff recently and didn't need him being selfishly angry that she'd gone and upset him with her dying.

He signed in at the front desk and they seemed to be pleased that someone closer to her own age was there to see her. Josh wasn't sure what that meant, but as soon as he saw her, he wasn't sure what exactly to say.

"You've done something different with your hair."

The Red Queen looked up, hand automatically reaching up to pull a lock of hair into her eye so she could look at it.

"I am unsure I like it, but it is what I am left with."

Looking up at Josh she had a hopeful look on her face. "Is Praetorian alright?"

"It looks good," Josh said. Very different, but he was sure he could get used to it. She still sounded like Red Queen, which was good. If she had started sounding all chipper or just more emotive in general he would have been weirded out.

"He misses you, but he's fine."

Her hands unclenched and opened, setting the communicator on the nearby table. She looked at them, opening and closing. She didn't recognize the face in the mirror anymore. Granted, she shouldn't have a face to being with, but still, the point remained.

"He will not know me, I imagine I smell as different as I look. You will have to introduce us again. Please, sit?"

She motioned to a chair, she was tired of having people hover over her, like she was something to be examined.

"I will. You sound the same, kind of, and maybe if you wore some of your old clothes or something you'd smell similar at first," Josh offered. He wasn't sure though, he didn't have a lot of experience with dogs other than the last while with Praetorian.

"How are you holding up?" he asked, sitting down.

"I wish to leave."

Her hand touched her communications device protectively. "I'm disconnected, it is... unnerving." To say the very least, she was hardly able to sleep without the buzz of information cascading through her mind. It was too silent. Too isolated, even more so since she'd been actually isolated from the other patients.

"Do you know how long they're going to keep you here?" Josh asked.

He knew that Red didn't belong here for the reasons she was being kept here, he didn't really think she was suicidal or anything like that. But Josh thought that maybe she could benefit from some counseling about her... condition. Maybe she could come to terms with being in a human body.

"Until I have a foster family to go home to." She didn't exactly sound enthusiastic about the idea. She didn't want supervision, she didn't require it. She was perfectly capable of taking care of herself.

"Do you know anyone that could be your foster family?" Josh asked. He would have offered Scatty, but he didn't think the other woman would really be able to convince the courts she should look after an "emotionally fragile" girl.

I am hoping someone on the police force can take me in." She scrolled through her connections on her device. "They know me, and I trust them. They will allow me to work... if I get my abilities back."

"If I could get you out of here..."

Josh gestured, unsure of exactly what he would do. He could probably kidnap her, he and Scatty, but then Red would constantly be on the run from then on and that would probably be even less fun.

"Your abilities should came back within a week or so though, I think."

"I hope so, I do not like this."

She looked up at Josh, fear in her eyes. She couldn't stay like this, she just couldn't.

"It's to quiet."

"They'll come back, and it won't be so quiet again," he promised. He hoped that she wasn't one of those people that switched powers when they died. He could tell that if she wasn't connected to things again like she had been, she really would go crazy.

"They'll come back." Repeating the comment she worked hard to force herself to believe it. Her powers would come back. They had to.

Mentally shaking herself and forcing herself to remove the emotion from her voice, she changed the subject. "What have you been doing, Josh? Are your classes going well?"

"Yeah, school's school," he said with a shrug before realizing that Red wouldn't really know what school was like.

"Spring Break is soon, so I'll be spending a few more hours at the book store, nothing major though. Just a few more months and it will be summer."

"Do you enjoy learning in such a fashion?" It was foreign to her, she could just download anything she wanted to know from the internet.
