Believe it or not, despite the number of people in the house, Hiei was foraging in the kitchen.

Honestly, would it kill the other house residents to keep more fish around?

The fox came in to pour himself a cup of tea, movements sharply graceful and aggressively calm. Someone had annoyed Kurama, but (for once) does not seem to be annoyed at Hiei.

Hiei spared Kurama a sideways glance to assess the danger levels. Kurama was annoyed--danger. But not at Hiei, so that lessened his chances of being strung up by a plant considerably.

"Not enjoying the party?" he said mildly, with just enough bite to ride the line between snidely joking and actually asking.

One had to be careful with an angry fox, after all.

...Oh, Hiei, that was almost sweet. Kurama idly got an extra plate down and put it on the counter next to Hiei: the invitation to eat whatever he wanted (not that he wouldn't have anyway) was intended as a silent thanks for asking.

And because the answer to Hiei's question was obvious, he'd just move on to the heart of the problem.

"What do you know about Baroona?"

Well, you know, anything for his husbando.

"He's a friend of Yusuke's."

Hiei knew that much from stalking his friends on the comm, which he did pretty much shamelessly.

"He claims to be a ready fighter but speaks against organized tournaments."

So in other words, Hiei was less than impressed with him. He dug out a package of frozen fried fish that someone had left in the freezer and sniffed at it dubiously as he waited for Kurama to process the information he had been given.
