WHO: Bennett Halverson
WHERE: Seattle, Washington
WHEN: The 4th through the 7th
WARNINGS: Uh, does TL;DR count as a warning?
SUMMARY: Just what happened while Bennett was on her nice little vacay.
FORMAT: Solo!

The way Bennett had managed to pick her vacation destination was, well, the most spontaneous and crazy thing she had ever done in her life, really. She just pulled up a map of the states, closed her eyes and pointed. Closest city to her finger was Seattle, Washington. So she packed up her things and got on the next flight out of the City and to Seattle with little thought.

And it felt pretty damn good.

Sure, this probably wasn't the best time of the year for Seattle but that was really beside the point. Her finger landed on Seattle and she was sticking to it regardless. Bennett also very rarely indulged. And very rarely meant, well, never. But this time, she did. She found the best hotel she could and took the most expensive room that was still open. This trip wasn't really about avoiding the Joker's mayhem at all. That was just the excuse she was using. The thing she was using to justify all the extravagance.

Once Bennett had acquainted herself with her over-sized, stupidly fancy room, she just laid down on the bed.

But that's when all everything just came out. She started to cry. Quietly, of course. Bennett wasn't a drama queen. Recent events had just, understandably, messed her up. Normally, Bennett just wasn't the type to cry or get all…emotional about anything. But here she was, letting the tears go for once in her life, not holding back. What was the point? She was a dead woman anyhow.

Eventually, she fell asleep in her big, lavish bed. Woke up in the middle of the night because she was cold so she actually went and put a nightgown on before crawling under the covers and getting lost in the mess of overstuffed pillows.

In the morning she actually slept in. Slept in! Meaning she slept past 6 AM. Actually, she slept until almost 10. Which at first, left her in an absolute panic that she had slept almost the entire day away but then Bennett reminded herself that it really, really didn't matter. She lounged around the room for a good two and a half hours before she even got dressed and started sight seeing.

On Saturday's agenda was an art museum or two. There certainly were enough of them. Bennett had always wished she had a lick of artistic talent. But of course, her artistic abilities didn't go beyond drawing up schematics for her projects. She picked up a few post cards from those museums for her friends, including the Joker, and a few silly souvenirs. Like a Leonardo da Vinci action figure. She figured the Joker would get a kick out of that. It was silly and stupid. For dinner she went to the fancy restaurant up in the Space Needle. And it was rather fantastic. Then she just went back to her hotel, watched a silly romcom movie that she'd never admit to watching even if her life depended on it and went to sleep.

She slept until almost 10 again, which was still such a foreign thing for her that she did spend a good five minutes freaking out about sleeping the day away. She didn't linger around her room for very long, though. She got dressed and headed out for a day at the science fiction museum. While sci-fi wasn't always her cup of tea, she felt a tad obligated to visit the museum. She knew how much Topher was into it. So of course, most of Sunday was spent kicking herself in the shin for blowing up at him like that on the Network. He should have known she had a rather volatile temper by now, though, so Bennett was hoping that he'd quickly forgive her. Especially since with every exhibit she passed, it was hitting her like a ton of bricks that she wished Topher was here in Seattle with her. It almost seemed like every time she was waiting in a line or had a spare moment, her mind wandered back to that particular moment back home when they had kissed. That…had been the first time in her life that Bennett actually felt, well, right. For lack of a better way of putting it. She was fairly certain, now that she was back in this reality and had that pool of memories to accompany the other ones from home, that she was in love with him. Sure, she had no idea if that was the right name for the emotion she felt for him but she was…80% sure? She planned on asking Donna about that once she got home. She'd ask Kim too but…Bennett had a feeling Kim was about as well off as she was in that department. Donna was more knowledgeable of proper social functions and things. Or at least compared to Bennett she was.

When she got to the gift shop of the museum, Bennett bought Topher some prop replica from some show she knew he talked about all the time as a peace offering. She hoped it'd help smooth things over. She also made the decision that if it was determined that yes, she was, in fact, in love with that idiot, she was going to tell him. She didn't want to keep something like that in forever. Especially because her life right now, the fact she was alive, that was precious time. Topher was here in this world and she didn't want to waste time. She wanted to experience everything with him. Everything she'd never get to do back home. Well, that all depended on if he loved her back, of course, but Bennett wasn't letting herself dwell on that too much.

After she bought a bunch of trinkets for her friends as well, it was late afternoon. Not knowing what to do with the rest of her day, Bennett decided to go shopping. Yes, shopping. It was usually something she wasn't very fond of but she wanted to have a nice new outfit to wear when she told Topher all about her feelings. She wanted to look nice since deep down, she was, in fact, still a pretty girly girl. And this trip was all about indulging those things she rarely thought about so. Shopping she went.

Things were going as per the usual when Bennett went shopping, at least until she walked into this little boutique and one of the girls that worked there absolutely insisted on helping. Bennett was rather used to being used as a dress-up doll, Caroline had done that all the time, but it was a little weird for a complete stranger to offer their assistance like that. Then again, since Bennett's fashion sense had basically reverted back to what it was pre-Caroline intervention, the girl at the boutique probably saw Bennett as a frightful clash of patterns that just needed all kinds of help. Bennett got quite a few new outfits, all quite a bit more fashionable than her usual things since she had had help picking them out. All in all, she was rather pleased with herself.

When Monday morning came, Bennett was all ready to leave. After dragging her butt out of bed she packed up her things and checked out of the hotel. Dealing with airport shenanigans was annoying but a necessary evil but once Bennett was on the plane back to the City she was…actually a little excited. And when the plane landed, she had a realization. A sudden epiphany that just seemed so obvious.

The City was home. More than Los Angeles, Tucson or DC ever had been. Why? Because she had friends here. It was so silly but why would she ever even want to go back home? The only person she could consider a friend back there was Topher. But here she had so many friends. Maggie, when she was still here, Donna and Kimiko. Boyd was a friend, even if he was her boss. She had a ton of acquaintances here too. And of course, there was Topher. But now that she was back in the City, Bennett was starting to worry about what she had said to him that day, she really hoped she could make things right since she hadn't meant that comment one bit.

After she came home and unpacked her things, it was around 6:00. Sure, she was rather exhausted but Bennett was a woman on a mission. After playing with Bingley for a long while, she put on on one of the outfits she bought in Seattle, a dark blue one and did her hair and make-up so she'd look, well, pretty. She was rather proud of the results. She didn't even look like herself. At least Bennett didn't think she looked much like herself. But her typical regimen of hair and make-up was usually pretty simple in comparison to this. Once she was done fussing, she sat down to make a video, announcing her return and insisting Topher come over. Or she go over to his place, just some form of meeting.

She was so prepared for this. Well, sort of. There was still a chance she'd chicken out.
