He felt like he'd been running forever. Where was he supposed to go? They were all trapped here and always had been and Yuusei knew that as well as any of them. What was even the point in running? They should have stayed and fought instead of running like cowards.

His friends had never been cowards. He couldn't believe they were trying to take that way out now. he couldn't believe he'd followed them. but he couldn't let them get hurt either...

Then he was on the ground and the side of his leg was on fire. Fuck. It had to be raining tonight ( ... )

And he found himself staring at bars. He was seconds away from falling back against the wall and sliding to the ground at the site of them. Why here? Why did he have to be here...?

Somehow he was able to stay on his feet and shuffle his way over to the bars. It wasn't Solitary, at least; it was that other cell, the one that had seen more than its share of his blood. The one where he'd did...the one where he would die. He could feel it already, the oppresive atmosphere that signaled the presence of his God. The God who would be disappointed if he just asked to be taken back right now ( ... )

There was a voice...not his or Cavil's or Saitou's...although it was really hard to tell with Cavil muking up his thoughts like this. what if it wasn't even really there--he knew he'd hallucinated last time.

"B-Bakura...?" he bit his lip to keep from screaming again; it already hurt to make any noise at all. "Don't! Stay away!"

Kiryu wasn't the one to answer that. He was too busy trying not to scream at the feeling of his leg getting slowly pulled off his body. No, the one to call back through the darkness was someone whom Bakura had probably hoped not to hear again.

"He's right, you know. You'd do better to simply abandon your friend and save yourself. That is what humans seem to best at."

"You're a bit too far away to be trying that, aren't you?" Cavil sneered, seeming more amused than wary at this point. "You know, I never pictured you as being a fighter. I always thought you were too weak."

"Bakura, don't..." Kiryu struggled to stand up--was he just going to sit here and watch Cavil torture another friend--but he could barely keep his head up. He was going to lose someone else and he couldn't do anything about it.

"No, I don't think I will. You see, your friend here has cost me a good deal of time and resources. It only fair to return to favor."

And because this really isn't all that big a place, that hallway up ahead seems to be where the voice is coming from. That row isn't very long--there's only about eight cells--but Kiryu's cell is at the end of it.

Cavil only response to that was a soft laugh and another prod at Kiryu's brain to get him screaming again.

But Kiryu could still hear Bakura calling his name. And each time he seemed to be closer and it filled Kiryu with dread. Bakura wasn't a fighter; what could he do against Cavil? He could help Kiryu quite a bit, sure, but he'd have to get to him first.

"Bakura, cover your ears first!" he finally called back, lucky to have even gotten that much out.

Kiryu was doing his best not to scream again--Cavil really hadn't appreciated Kiryu warning his friend like that. So Kiryu didn't noticed when Bakura finally got there.

But Cavil did. And he looked even more annoyed with this. And he might have been pulling out something that looked suspiciously like a gun.

That didn't quite have to affect Bakura was looking for. Instead, the pain grew sharper and Kiryu certainly looked like he was in more pain than before. It was probably because Cavil was making it worse, but it didn't change that it hurt.

"Stop!" he shouted, close to screaming again. "Stop! STOP!"
