Well, there was a good sign that another wizard was around. James was on his guard regardless, of course Remus and Sirius had told him there were other wizards here, but one never really knew who you could trust. At least, that's what he'd been getting used to back home. This, however, was a different place, with less wizards, less rules, and less war. It would take some getting used to.

James cautiously poked his head into the hallway, one hand out of sight, on his wand. "Hallo, who's there?" He replied, stepping out from the doorway.

Harry had been about to move into the next room, but the sight of James stopped him and for a moment his breath got caught in his throat. Seeing and speaking to a younger Sirius had been surreal enough, but this was even more so. Like he was merely looking into a Pensieve and it wasn't him his father was addressing. Only it was.

"Harry," he answered once he had found his voice again, before adding: "Harry Potter." Because really, his appearance already said enough. It was probably like looking into a mirror, except that the reflection was a bit taller, had a scar and Lily's eyes.

It was, which was one of the reasons James was staring like an idiot at him. "Right, yes, Harry," he replied slowly. "Er. Sirius mentioned you, but, I, er...." He trailed off and ran a hand through his hair, frowning. How exactly do you greet your son who is currently older than you? Especially when you didn't know he existed til a few days ago?

"...This is weird," he finally continued, giving Harry a bit of an awkward grin. "This place is really completely mad."

Harry was in pretty much the same predicament. How do you greet your father who was not only younger than you, but you only knew through old photos, letters, other people's stories and memories, old records, his ghost and a memory of his dying moment? Whatever he thought of the night before, it was gone now. His mind was annoyingly blank.

"It is," he agreed to both statements, returning the awkward grin with a small smile. He hesitated for a little while before finally making the decision and closing the distance between them so he could hug James, his voice a little strained when he speaks next. "I'm still really glad to see you though."
