Lamont was punctual, arriving exactly at the time he said he would, and knocking on the door to Jaime's apartment. He himself no longer lived in the MAC apartments, but the trip had not been long. It was no accident his business was a short distance by subway from the building.

He was interested to hear what Jaime had to say, and what she might ask him. He was as prepared as he figured he might be for the encounter, but there was always the chance something may happen. He was armed with a single gun that was tucked neatly below the jacket of his suit which had been specially tailored to disguise any telltale bulge from the weapon.

Still, he affected a pleasant demeanor as he waited for the door to be answered, putting on a slim, businesslike smile.

A shadow appeared in the peephole as Jaime looked through to see who it was, and then opened the door.

"Hi," Jaime greeted him with her habitual warm smile. "Thanks for coming by. Please come in." She waved him into the apartment. She'd worked on trying to cozy up the place with throws and pillows--though the kitchen was still conspicuously absent a kitchen table from an incident way back in August.

"Can, ah... can I get you some coffee or something?"

"Coffee would be nice, thank you." He stood in her living room, not wanting to make himself at home until she was settled. Their conversation would not likely be an easy one, and if they were relaxed beforehand, it might make it a little easier.

"Have a seat," she waved him toward the couch, and went into the kitchenette to pour some coffee, having already put the pot on a little earlier. She asked him what he liked in it, and after preparing it, brought it to them in a pair of mugs, both of which with cute sayings about the work of teachers--it seemed an inevitability of school teaching, that one would acquire, even in a brief period of time, a billion kitschy gift mugs from well-meaning students on a limited budget.

She sat down across from him in an easy chair, sipping on her coffee a moment before speaking. "Gosh, ah... I don't even know where to start. I... I guess I just... from your perspective, I want to know what happened."

He remained standing, sharp eyes taking in, and memorizing every detail of the apartment until she returned with his black coffee. Mug in hand, he took his place on the couch, an easy nature about him as he crossed his legs and took a sip.

"My perspective?" He raised an eyebrow lazily, taking another drink of the coffee. He seemed to act more like he was in a business deal than a conversation about having delved into parts of her mind most people would prefer to be kept to themselves. "I assume you're looking for more detail than what I provided for the police report. I would like to know, how much of it that you remember after the other Officers took control of the situation."

Jaime took a long sip of coffee, spreading her free hand to the side as she prepared to speak. "I remember sitting at a cubicle, reading over open cases, and suddenly, I knew I needed to look at some evidence down in the crime lab downstairs. I... I don't even know what, but I just knew I had to go downstairs ( ... )

"Officer Sheldon's taser, followed by whatever Officer Reese may have done, most likely. The last, was a remnant of whomever had put the command in your mind, from what I can gather." She appeared to not remember his influence exactly, but the laughing he remembered well along with the drums from when he'd tried to shut down the imperative that had driven her as far as she'd gone.

"So... so that was inside my head?" Jaime shuddered.

"Was that Tierney, do you know? Because everything going awry seems to be going back to him. I mean, I know there was this Major guy with the Nazi robots and everything, according to Lassiter, but... I didn't remember why I visited him until after I came to. I think he or someone played with my memories. I'm already a partial amnesiac, I don't need more of that."

"Tierney? Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the name, but I can certainly look into it." He sipped at the coffee silently. Her admission to being a partial amnesiac helped to put that particular detail to rest, at least she knew she had memories missing. He could wonder how that had come to be the case at some other point. "If that is the point where the problem started, I would think it's likely he had a hand in the situation, if he wasn't a direct cause of it."

"He's the head of the Archangel Foundation. He funds 'memory research'... and a woman named Whiskey... she thought he had someone named Topher manipulate her memories. Thing is, I don't remember why that's why I went to see him... not till after I woke up. I've been thinking he's utterly swell, and that raises my suspicions pretty high because that sense has worn off awful fast."

Jaime picked up her coffee and sipped it. "Even now, though, I don't remember anyone fooling with my arm... whoever did this was good. Far beyond anything I ever saw at home, and I've seen some brainwashing kind of stuff." She shudders a little to think of it.

"So tell me, doc, is this stuff out of my head for sure?"

He raised an eyebrow slightly at being called 'doc', but otherwise remained impassive as he drank his coffee.

"There's no reason anything should remain. The alteration of your mind was not extensive. It was only enough to manipulate you to the extent to which the reprogramming would be successful."

"You mean keep me oblivious till my power pack blew up." Jaime shook her head. "I probably wanted to go downstairs to get close to the generator or furnace for maximum damage. God, it just scares me to think..."

She trailed off and then picked up on a new line of thought. "Is... is there a way to prevent something like that? I mean... sort of, protect yourself from hypnosis or whatever?"

He followed her logic, it was certainly sound, an explosion for maximum effect against the police after they had been weakened morally.

"Possibly." He held the mug in one hand and watched Jaime with eyes that seemed to gain a certain sharpness to them. "It's dependent upon the mind, and the method used against it." He certainly had his own level of skill, but the recent brainwashing had given him cause to wonder how he might hold up against the vast array of methods he'd never faced.

"Would it be possible to train people to at least have... have some kind of resistance or something?" Jaime ran a hand through the length of her hair. "I... I know you're just a consultant to the police, but if... if there was a way to train that, that would really help us out. Obviously the police were being targeted, not just with what happened to me, but also to Yusuka a-a-and and Aaron and Seras..."

Jaime trailed off, saddened by all that had happened to the police force, and the last thought came out out-loud without her thinking about it. "You'd think since we were brought here to police this place the Porter would..." She shook her head, knowing that thought would go nowhere. It was obvious to her by now that the edict to protect the City as its Police was largely a sham, Jaime was sure. Jaime's desire to work with the police came out of her own sense of responsibility or she wouldn't have done it anyway, regardless of what she was expected to do.

At the request, Lamont kept his sharp eyes on Jaime, and leaned back in his seat, running a hand over his chin. This was not a small request, he was not a teacher, he did not share his secrets. Showing his techniques to others may provide the key to controlling his own mind should someone decide to target him directly.

"I wouldn't be able to teach you, but there's another who might. He's far better at this sort of thing than I am. From what I understand, he's already acquainted with Officer Bauer."

Jaime nodded, not really wanting to argue with Lamont as he knew this thing better than he did and he didn't seem to be talking out of insecurity.

"Oh? Who is that?"

((ooc: With his "sharp eyes" is he trying to get any information from Jaime? This is okay, just wanting to know if/what I should be telling you.))
