Keeping a Promise

Oct 20, 2010 05:10

Who: Sheldon Jeffery Sands and Nill brevipennate
Where: At the cathedral
When: 10-20 Around dawn.
Summary: Sheldon started growing the apple trees as he promised and now has the seedling to give to Nill.
Warnings: Just Sheldon being himself mostly.

Sheldon had left his house just before dawn to fulfill a promise that he made to Nill when she was just beginning to adjust. As he promised, he kept his distance. Now it was time for him to keep his word and return with the sapling that he promised her that he would give to help her along and for something to do while she was making her way in a world that hardly understood.

He was glad that she was adjusting. He wasn't so lucky. Like many things that seem novel at first, they eventually lose their charm and tarnish. He was no different and suddenly found himself right back at the beginning. Only this time, it was his choice and not circumstance.

He wasn't in disguise this time. He didn't intend to stick around. He had a lot of things to do and that meant keeping the promises he made one by one. He planned on visiting Grimmjow's club before he would leave for Mexico. He intended to make that visit this Friday. Everyone seems to be doing their intended duties effectively but socializing wasn't his biggest priority. He only wanted to make certain that The City didn't need him which he was finding to be more and more true as the days toil on.

It's this complacency that was causing Sheldon to go a little stir crazy. The realization that his world wasn't the same as this one bored the otherwise active agent. He was abrasive to the point that not many wanted to be around him and to make matters even stranger was the Porter's twisted sense of humor that was spreading over the network. People turning into animals? That was a very strange event even for him.

As he slowed his car down in front of the Cathedral, he looked over his shoulder and scoffed. Everything was coming full circle now and it was time to move on. Getting the things he wanted done first was the best way to have closure.

He exited the car with the sapling in his hands in a small clay pot, he approached the Cathedral with a new sense of pride in his steps. At least now he was playing the ghost in the shadows. He was taking back control of his otherwise once chaotic life. He set the pot down in front of the door and turned to walk away.
