Also I apologize for the delay. Retail eats my brain sometimes.

One of Matt’s greatest faults was probably how self-absorbed he could be. His own life and his own problems were so consuming that if he didn’t stop, take a break, and pay attention to the world around him, he sometimes forgot that there were people in the world who had it worse off than he did. There were people who were far better off than he was too, but that realization came even less frequently than the former. If situations weren’t being dragged out and waved in front of his nose, it was easy for him to ignore them.

His blindness was only a small factor in this problem of his, though it certainly didn’t help things. Matt never made a habit of reading newspapers or listening to the news. Current events didn’t matter to him, outside of what was happening in his own neighborhood. That was a habit he knew he ought to change, but changes came slow to a guy as set in his ways as Matt Murdock was.

He didn’t recognize the name Boyd Langdon, no associations sprang to mind when Gemma presented him with the details of his appointment. It wouldn’t have especially mattered, of course. The papers would simply state the interesting news of Langdon’s rising business star. It made sense for a prominent imPort business figure to seek out a prominent imPort lawyer. There was really nothing unusual about the situation at all, as far as Matt could tell.

So Matt asked Gemma to start brewing some tea in the kitchenette in preparation for Mr. Langdon’s arrival, and he handed Reilly a stack of busy work to occupy him in the bedroom so that Matt and Mr. Langdon could carry out their business in relative privacy. Not that he wasn’t expecting the two youngsters to eavesdrop a little; try as they might to hide it, Matt was keenly aware that his two employees could be nosy when they wanted to be.
