This time, even though Duck forgot which door had the horrible groaning hinges, she was proud to discover that she was five minutes early.
Who would have guessed? she thought to herself, giddy and flushed, plunking herself in a seat close to the stage. She was on time, and she'd somehow landed an important role--Dracula's mad servant, Renfield. Okay, so it was a weird role, but she was going to do her very best to show the directors they'd made the right choice... and to be a worthy partner to Rue in their scenes. It wasn't much of a surprise that Rue had been cast as the darkly beautiful Countess Dracula--even here, nobody could match her skills and grace.
She pulled her copy of the script out of her backpack and settled in to review her lines.
